Semarang, September 9, 2026 \u2014 The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), in collaboration with the General Elections Commission (KPU) of Central Java Province, held a Democracy Class on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the 3rd Floor Hall of Building C1, FISIP UNNES. The activity was attended by approximately 220 students from the Political Science Study Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Democracy Class featured Handi Tri Ujiono, Chairperson of the Central Java Provincial KPU, as the speaker, and Bambang Hermanto, a lecturer in the Political Science Study Program at UNNES, as the moderator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The session discussed KPU as an independent state institution responsible for administering elections. The discussion covered the role and position of the KPU in maintaining democratic processes and ensuring credible and integrity-based elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The activity was organized as part of the collaboration between FISIP UNNES and the Central Java KPU to strengthen students\u2019 understanding of democracy and encourage greater participation among young people in political and democratic processes. Increased youth participation is expected to contribute to the realization of a meaningful democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Democracy Class was conducted smoothly and interactively. Students demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the session, particularly during the discussion segment. They actively raised questions and shared perspectives with the speaker on election administration, the independence of election management bodies, and the role of young people in strengthening democracy.
