The badminton team of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) secured a place in the semifinals of the badminton tournament held as part of the university\u2019s 61st anniversary celebration on Thursday (May 7, 2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FISIP opened its winning streak through the first doubles pair, Iwan Hardi Saputro and Noorochmat Isdaryanto. The duo defeated representatives from the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP) in straight sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The positive momentum continued with Sriyanto and Andi Suhardiyanto, who overcame FIPP\u2019s second doubles pair in a three-set match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe played in a relaxed manner and did not set any specific target in today\u2019s match,\u201d Sriyanto said after the game at the UNNES badminton court in Sampangan, Semarang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FISIP completed a clean sweep after Harto Wicaksono and Umar won the third match against FIPP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBefore the match, we focused on getting enough rest and training so we could stay focused during the game,\u201d Harto said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After defeating FIPP, FISIP faced the Rectorate team in the next qualifying round. However, FISIP lost all three matches and finished second in the group standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite placing second, FISIP advanced to the quarterfinals and faced the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). In the match for a semifinal spot, FISIP secured victory by winning the first two matches directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FISIP is now only one step away from reaching the final. In the semifinal scheduled for Friday (May 8, 2026), FISIP will face the Faculty of Sports Science (FIK), considered one of the strongest title contenders in the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
