The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) recorded a new milestone in early 2026 after being included in the global rankings released by Times Higher Education (THE). In the World University Rankings by Subject<\/em>, FISIP UNNES was placed in the 1001+ band for the social sciences<\/em> category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Head of UNNES\u2019s Quality Assurance Office, Prof. Dr. Rudi Hartono, explained that THE is an international ranking body that annually evaluates the performance of higher education institutions worldwide. The assessment is based on five main indicators: teaching (30 percent), research environment (30 percent), research quality and citations (30 percent), international outlook (7.5 percent), and industry income (2.5 percent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Rudi, THE rankings reflect not only academic quality but also an institution\u2019s global competitiveness, including its research contributions, international collaboration, and engagement with industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Arif Purnomo, stated that the achievement was the result of collective efforts across the faculty. \u201cThis success is the outcome of collaboration among lecturers, students, administrative staff, and strong institutional support,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Arif expressed hope that FISIP\u2019s contribution to international rankings would continue to grow.
