BANGI \u2013 The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) continues to strengthen its international collaborations. One of these efforts was realized through an academic visit by Dr. Puji Lestari, S.Sos., M.Si., Vice Dean III of FISIP UNNES, to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for a collaborative research program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Puji Lestari was invited as a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSK) UKM, to share insights and further strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guest lecture, attended by students and academics from the Anthropology and Sociology Study Program of FSSK UKM\u2014one of Malaysia\u2019s leading faculties\u2014was held on October 28, 2025. The session served as an important opportunity for knowledge exchange in applied social sciences, focusing on women\u2019s adaptability and resilience in the face of climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her lecture titled \u201cWomen and Climate Change,\u201d Dr. Puji Lestari provided an in-depth analysis of how gender and cultural frameworks shape societal experiences, particularly those of women, in confronting the climate crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe issue of climate change must be approached through a social science perspective, in order to understand unequal vulnerabilities and the central role of women in local adaptation,\u201d said Dr. Puji Lestari.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

She also emphasized the importance of context-sensitive research on gendered divisions of labor, access to resources, and women\u2019s participation in climate-related decision-making at the community level. According to her, women should have equal access and opportunities to determine their own futures amid ongoing climate challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Deans of both FISIP UNNES and FSSK UKM warmly welcomed this initiative and expressed their hopes that the visit would further strengthen existing collaborations, including joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, and international publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This guest lecture not only broadened the academic horizons of UKM students but also marked a significant milestone in UNNES\u2019s commitment to achieving global academic reputation through relevant and contextual knowledge exchange. The efforts of FISIP UNNES represent a tangible contribution to the realization of SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
