This farewell marked the end of Maria’s long journey of dedication, having served for 40 years in the world of education.
Vice Dean II for Planning & Resources of FIPP UNNES, Kusnarto Kurniawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., Kons., read a brief profile of the lecturer to the entire academic community.
Maria, who was born in Ponorogo on December 28, 1960, ended her tenure as Associate Lecturer with the final rank of Junior Principal Advisor (IV/c).
This expert in Basic Counseling Skills began her service in 1986, before finally deciding to move to Semarang in 1993 to follow her husband’s assignment.

In her farewell address, Maria Theresia couldn’t hide her emotion. She reminisced about her early days at FIPP, including the daily dynamics of FIPP, which she considered her second home.
“I feel comfortable living at FIPP with all its joys and sorrows. It’s impossible to avoid sorrow in everyday life, but forgiveness makes it beautiful,” Maria said.
She emphasized that she has put all bitter memories behind her and chosen to take home the sweet memories of her decades of teaching.
Maria also reminisced about her professional closeness with her colleagues, including her time in the same department as Prof. Edy. For her, the camaraderie at the faculty was part of her personal happiness.
Concluding her farewell address, Maria offered her sincere apologies to the entire academic community for any mistakes, whether made in person or through digital communication.
“In social interactions, there are certainly words that are unintentional or not. I sincerely apologize,” she concluded.
Maria Theresia officially retired on January 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge in the field of counseling and dedication that serves as an example for future generations at UNNES.
