SEMARANG – The Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP) of Semarang State University (UNNES) continues to strengthen its international network. Through the FIPP International Forum 2026, FIPP presented experts from Universiti Malaya (UM) Malaysia and UNNES Professors for a Guest Lecture session in Room A6 of FIPP on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
For your information, the FIPP International Forum 2026 is a collaborative scientific meeting between FIPP UNNES, Universiti Malaysia, and UIN Salatiga.

This scientific meeting not only serves as a forum for knowledge sharing but also serves as a gateway for strengthening strategic collaboration between universities in Southeast Asia.
Global Transformation and Educational Innovation
In his presentation, Dr. Abd Razak Zakaria from Universiti Malaya thoroughly discussed “Malaysia Education Blueprint (2013-2025): Globalization and Future Education.” He emphasized the importance of the education system adapting quickly to international standards to meet increasingly dynamic public expectations.
“This transformation requires a real strategic and operational shift. We need to evaluate the performance of the current system against global benchmarks to realize the aspirations of students that the nation deserves,” Dr. Razak emphasized.
This spirit of innovation was reinforced by another UM researcher, Rabiatul Adawiyah binti Suep, who presented an educational robotics module to hone students’ computational thinking. Meanwhile, Mohd Adiel Azhar bin Harun highlighted the effectiveness of digital transformation in the new student admissions system through a case study of UPUOnline.
Harmonizing Technology and Local Wisdom
Complementing the technological perspective, Professor of FIPP UNNES, Prof. Dr. Purwo Susongko, M.Pd., brought the discussion back to cultural roots. Through a presentation entitled “How to Assess Students’ Temperament Using Ancient Javanese Knowledge,” he explained how local Javanese wisdom can be a crucial instrument for teachers in designing effective character education interventions.

Concrete Steps for International Collaboration
Following the academic session, the agenda continued with technical discussions regarding expanding collaboration. The FIPP International Forum 2026 provided an opportunity for FIPP UNNES leadership to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration with Universiti Malaya and UIN Salatiga.
The Vice Dean for Business, Research, and Cooperation at FIPP UNNES, Siti Nuzulia, Ph.D., revealed that her institution had offered several concrete collaboration schemes to Universiti Malaya.
“We offer collaborative research schemes, joint scientific article writing, visiting professorships, and joint supervisorships for postgraduate students,” explained Siti Nuzulia.
She added that in the near future, both parties will implement an external examiner program. The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding that will be followed up with the signing of official cooperation documents (MoU/MoA).
This cross-border synergy is a concrete step by FIPP UNNES in supporting the achievement of SDGs number 4 concerning quality education and number 17 in strengthening global partnerships to accelerate academic innovation in Southeast Asia.
