SEMARANG – The Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP) of Semarang State University (UNNES) is accelerating its path to the world stage. On Thursday, February 19, 2026, the faculty will hold the FIPP International Forum 2026, an academic event bringing together experts and students from five countries.
Held at the Dean’s Office Building and Building A6 of FIPP UNNES, this forum carries a major mission: accelerating UNNES’ transformation into a World-Class University. Farid Ahmadi, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D., Deputy Dean I for Academic and Student Affairs at FIPP UNNES, described this event as a tactical step to expand international exposure through an inbound approach.
“We are bringing international academics and students to campus to build an international academic atmosphere within the FIPP environment,” said Farid in an official statement on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Educational Diplomacy in Five Countries
This forum is more than just an academic gathering. With the theme “Contemporary Issues on Education and Psychology,” this international seminar involves speakers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Gambia, and Kyrgyzstan.
Uniquely, the main stage is given to international students currently studying at UNNES and FIPP’s Outstanding Students (Mapres). They are challenged to examine current issues in education and psychology from the perspective of their respective countries of origin.
Farid emphasized that student involvement as key actors is a long-term investment. “This is crucial for honing speaking skills at the global level. Our students need portfolios and real-world experience performing in international forums,” he added.
Not Stopping at Ceremonies
The Chair of the FIPP International Forum 2026 Committee, Dr. Wulan Aulia Azizah, M.Pd., ensured that this event was more than just a ceremony. Besides the seminar, other main agenda items included guest lectures from Malaysian experts and a student exchange program.
“Internationalization should not stop with the presence of foreign guests. It must continue with concrete collaborations such as joint research, joint publications, and student mobility,” Wulan said.
One of the strategic goals targeted at this forum is the formalization of a more binding collaboration. FIPP UNNES plans to follow up the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its Malaysian partners to the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Implementation Arrangement (IA) stages.
This step includes a credit transfer agreement, which allows courses taken by foreign students at UNNES to be officially recognized at their home campus. “This forum is a strategic step to continuously strengthen FIPP’s international exposure,” Wulan said.
