A visit by a delegation of students from VIA University College, Denmark, to the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, underscored efforts to strengthen international cooperation, aligning directly with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals.
Paving the Way for Sustainable Partnership
The event, held in the FIPP UNNES Dean’s Meeting Room , was officially opened by Ibu Siti Nuzulia, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., the Vice Dean III for Business, Research, and Cooperation. In her welcoming address, she expressed appreciation for the visit, highlighting it as a positive step in strengthening international cooperation and broadening the horizons of students from both institutions. The visit was part of VIA University College’s academic tour program to several faculties at UNNES, including FIPP.
This commitment reflects the spirit of SDG 17, which advocates for global collaboration among institutions to achieve sustainable development targets, including those in education and research.
Academic Tour Showcases Educational Innovation
During their time at FIPP, the Danish students conducted an academic tour focusing on innovative learning facilities, demonstrating UNNES’s dedication to supporting Quality Education (SDG 4):
- Psychology Laboratory: The students explored the use of Virtual Reality (VR) technology in psychology learning. They showed great enthusiasm while trying out VR simulations used for technology-based assessment and therapy activities.
- Library: Their visit to the library, which provides a variety of books, journals, and scientific references , included discussions on information literacy services and the digitalization system used to support academic activities at UNNES.
- Child Development Laboratory (Laboratorium Tumbuh Kembang): Students were introduced to various facilities and aids used to stimulate and assess aspects of early childhood development.
- Music Laboratory (Laboratorium Musik): In an engaging session, the students learned about and tried playing the traditional Indonesian musical instrument, the angklung. They demonstrated high enthusiasm for this cultural exchange activity.
- Smart Class (Ruang Pembelajaran Cerdas): They also visited the modern facility used for interactive learning, discussions, and various digital-based multipurpose activities.
Future Outlook for Long-Term Partnership
The event proceeded smoothly and enthusiastically, concluding with a joint photo session between the VIA University College students and the FIPP UNNES leadership.
This visit is expected to be a positive starting point for establishing sustainable academic cooperation between VIA University College Denmark and Universitas Negeri Semarang, particularly the Faculty of Education and Psychology. This collaboration is planned to cover areas such as student exchange, joint research, and global education innovation.
