
Semarang, May 9, 2025 – The Faculty of Education (FIPP) of the Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) held an international program entitled FIPP 2025 Summer Course which is a series of Unnes 2025 Summer Course. The opening ceremony which took place in Meeting Room 2, 2nd Floor of the FIPP UNNES Dean Building became the starting point for a series of cross-cultural learning activities involving students from various countries. This activity aims to provide academic experience as well as introduce Indonesian cultural values to international students who are pursuing higher education in the country.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Edy Purwanto, M.Si., as the Dean of the Faculty of Education UNNES, expressed his appreciation and warm welcome to the participants. He emphasized that this Summer Course program is part of FIPP’s contribution in supporting the global agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially points 3 (health and welfare), 4 (quality education), 16 (peace and justice), and 17 (global partnerships). “This activity is not only a means of improving the competence of foreign students in understanding the education and psychology system in Indonesia, but also a tangible form of cultural diplomacy that reflects Indonesia’s diversity and local values,” he said.
Four international students participated in this program, namely Muhammad Abuzar from Pakistan, Mathayo Marko Nassari from Tanzania, Naw Eh Wai Htoo from Myanmar, and Mohamed Iyas Valarthodi from India. These participants will be involved in a variety of activities designed to strengthen academic skills, cross-cultural understanding, and a collaborative spirit between nations. The FIPP 2025 Summer Course program is clear evidence of UNNES’ commitment to supporting the internationalization of education and building meaningful relationships with foreign students through educational and cultural approaches. It is hoped that this activity will not only provide valuable academic experience for participants, but also form a positive perception of Indonesian culture as a friendly, open, and rich nation.
