Semarang, November 26, 2024 – The Faculty of Education and Psychology at Universitas Negeri Semarang (FIPP UNNES) organized the 2025 Research and Community Service Guideline Socialization event at the FIPP Dekanat Building. This event aimed to provide direction, motivation, and inspiration for lecturers to maximize their contributions in research and community service activities.
The event commenced with an inspiring speech by FIPP UNNES Dean, Prof. Dr. Edy Purwanto, M.Si., who emphasized the importance of collective efforts to achieve significant progress in research and publication in 2025.
“Last year, FIPP achieved 18 publications in Scopus-indexed journals and 26 papers in international conferences. However, this achievement still lags behind other faculties at UNNES. Therefore, we need to accelerate our efforts to make FIPP stand out,” said Prof. Edy.
He also highlighted the importance of aligning research projects with the Study Program Research Focus Groups (Kelompok Bidang Kajian or KBK) and the established research roadmap. The event featured three speakers from UNNES’ Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM): Prof. Dr. Niken Subekti, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Nana Kariada TM, M.Si., and Prof. Dr. Margareta R, M.Si., moderated by Ghanis Putra Widhanarto, S.Pd., M.Pd.
Prof. Niken elaborated on opportunities for national competitive research funding from DRTPM, which covers both basic and applied research. She underscored the importance of lecturers participating in schemes such as postgraduate research, international collaborations, and fundamental studies in national priority areas, including food security, energy, and green economy. Expected outcomes include publications in reputable international journals or nationally accredited journals, depending on the scheme.
Meanwhile, Prof. Nana emphasized the need for innovation in community service programs. She advocated for fresh and relevant themes, such as digital technology, tourism rooted in local wisdom, and strategic issues like stunting and digital literacy. She also encouraged interdisciplinary community service projects, involving at least two distinct scientific fields.
Prof. Margareta concluded the session by discussing the funding schemes available through DPA LPPM UNNES. She highlighted the importance of applied research focused on commercialization, as well as international collaborations that produce strategic outputs such as copyrights, collaborative publications, and strengthened global networks.
This event is expected to be a stepping stone for FIPP lecturers to strengthen UNNES’ position in research and publication, while also making meaningful contributions to society through innovative and relevant community service programs.
