Semarang – As part of the PKKMB Psychology UNNES activities, Professor Darrin Hodgetts, Ph.D., from Massey University, New Zealand, visited the Feeder Drivers Community on Wednesday evening, September 18, 2024, at the headquarters of PT. SPS (Semarang Pesona Semesta), Gunungpati.
Accompanying Professor Darrin Hodgetts, Ph.D., were the Coordinator of the Psychology Study Program, Mrs. Anna Undarwati, S.Psi., M.A., Ph.D., Mrs. Nuke Martiarini, S.Psi., M.A., Mrs. Fatma Kusuma Mahanani, S.Psi., M.Psi., Mrs. Pradipta Christy Pratiwi S.Psi., M.Psi., Mr. Miftahun Najah, S.Psi., M.A., and Mr. Faiz Fatihul ‘Alwan, S.Pd., M.Pd. On the other side, Mr. Agung, representing HRD of PT.SPS, was also present.
The event took place in the evening, after the Feeder Drivers had completed their duties. During the gathering, Professor Darrin Hodgetts, Ph.D., and the UNNES Psychology lecturers shared dinner with the Feeder Drivers. Throughout the evening, the drivers shared their daily experiences, including the challenges they face and how they manage stress in their profession.
The drivers also expressed that working at PT.SPS feels like being part of a family. One driver shared that the Feeder Drivers have developed a strong bond, frequently helping each other during difficult times. Additionally, PT.SPS provides significant support when a driver falls ill, further strengthening the sense of family within the company.
The stories from the Feeder Drivers Community at PT.SPS continue to inspire the Psychology Study Program at UNNES to engage more closely with various communities, fostering a deeper understanding of their realities and empowering society. It is hoped that in the future, the UNNES Psychology Study Program can contribute to communities, society, and policymakers.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Darrin Hodgetts, Ph.D., remarked, “It’s a pleasure to hear the experiences of the drivers, where each individual takes pride in and loves their work. They are solid, supporting one another, and the management rewards their efforts with substantial bonuses. Amazing!”
