Akhirnya Prodi Kesehatan Masyarakat memiliki Profesor Pertama setelah pada hari selasa (11/8) Prof Dr dr Oktia Woro Kasmini Handayani telah resmi dikukuhan sebagai guru besar.

Prof Dr dr Oktia Woro Kasmini Handayani dari Fakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan dengan pidato pengukuhan Profesor dalam bidang ilmu gizi berjudul “Makanan Jajanan Anak Antara Kebutuhabn dan Ancaman”.

Pengukuhan oleh Rektor Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum di auditorium kampus Sekaran Gunungpati.

Hadir reviuwer Prof dr HM Sulchan SpGK dan Prof Dr dr Hardono dari Universitas Diponegoro Semarang.

Rektor Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum menyampaikan, dengan dikukuhkannya Prof Oktia Woro Kasmini Handayani ini Unnes bertambah satu Profesornya. Dia merupakan Profesor ke 103 Unnes.
“Selamat dan sukses kepada Prof Woro (panggilan akrapnya) selamat bergabung menjadi anggota senat universitas.” Kata Rektor Unnes.

Rektor Unnes juga mengemukakan, pencapaian derajat Profesor ini jangan menjadi akhir dalam menimba ilmu, melainkan sebagai awal dari meniti karier. Mahasiswa dan warga masyarakat menunggu kiprah selanjutnya.

Prof Oktia Woro Kasmini Handayani, pada 2011 hasil peneliti yang dilakukan di Desa Pecuk, Jawa Tengah mendapat kesimpilan bahwa pada anak balita dan remaja sekolah, makanan jajanan sangat dibutuhkan untuk dapat memenuhi kabutuhan makanan anak.

Walaupun, jelas Prof Woro, dengan berbagai alasan sepserti anak tak suka makanan rumah, orang tua disibukkan dengan pekerjaan. Sehingga makanan jajanan merupakan faktor yang ikut menentukan status gizi anak.

Menurut Prof Woro, hasil penelitian pada SMA di Semarang memperoleh data bahwa jajanan merupakan penyumang terjadinya obisitas pada remaja, disampning faktor-faktor lain seperti aktivitas dan olahraga.

Hasil penelitian itu mendukung data di Indonesia bahwa kelompok usia 5-12 tahun menunjukkan prevelensi obisitas masih sangat tinggi yakni 18,8 persen. Bahkan kecenderungannya mengalami kenaikan dari 1,4 persen (2007) menjadi 18,8 persen (2013), kata Prof Woro.
