sebanyak 131 peserta mengikuti UKOM ( ujian Kompetensi) di jurusan Kesehatan Masyarakat FIK Unnes. kegiatan yang dilaksanakan pada sabtu (11/3)  di gedung F5 Jurusan Kesehatan Masyarakat. Peserta berasal dari mahasiswa dan alumni jurusan Kesehatan Masyarakat. Pada saat yang bersamaan Ukom juga dilaksanakan oleh 3 perguruan tinggi yang ada di kota Semarang, yaitu Undip dan Udinus, ada yang menarik pada Ukom saat ini, karena pelaksanaannya secara serentak di seluruh Indonesia mengacu pada waktu yang bersamaan antara Indonesia barat, timur dan tengah. hal ini untuk mencegah kebocoran soal.

Ukom sendiri merupakan syarat untuk mendapatkan Sertifikat Uji Kompetensi Sarjana Kesehatan Masyarakat Indonesia (UKSKMI) dan salah satu persyaratan untuk mendapatkan Surat Tanda Registrasi (STR). Dengan kata lain, setiap mahasiswa yang memenuhi persyaratan dan alumni bidang kesehatan masyarakat wajib mengikuti uji kompetensi yang sering dikenal dengan UKOM. Beberapa hal yang mendasari pentingnya UKOM adalah: 1) Indonesia telah mengembangkan “pagar” pelindung bagi pasar kerja dan masyarakat Indonesia di era MEA dengan sistem Sertifikasi, Registrasi, dan Lisensi; 2) Kemenkes RI menetapkan aturan bahwa setiap tenaga kesehatan yang bekerja di Indonesia harus teregistrasi yang ditunjukkan dengan STR; 3) Tahun 2014, akhirnya S.K.M. mendapat pengakuan sebagai tenaga kesehatan di Indonesia dan IAKMI menjadi anggota MTKI (Majelis Tenaga Kesehatan Indonesia) mewakili profesi kesehatan masyarakat; 4) IAKMI dan AIPTKMI mengembangkan UKOM sebagai penerbitan sertifikat kompetensi; 6) Telah ada kesepakatan dengan MTKI bahwa bagi S.K.M. yang lulus tahun 2015 atau sebelumnya, penerbitan STR tidak memerlukan sertifikat kompetensi dan bagi S.K.M. yang lulus tahun 2016 atau sesudahnya, penerbitan STR memerlukan sertifkat kompetensi; 7) Sistem registrasi online untuk penerbitan STR bagi kesehatan masyarakat sedang dalam proses perbaikan.
