Graduation season is a joyous occasion for graduates and their families. It is not uncommon for colleagues and family members from out of town to travel to Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) to witness and celebrate the graduation ceremony together. During the 132nd graduation period held on 9 August 2025, the comfort of out-of-town families became a priority for UNNES, particularly for graduates within the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For FBS UNNES graduates, the management announced that there are at least three accommodations available for families to stay: the UNNES Dormitory, Wisma KWU UNNES, and UTC Hotel Semarang. Students who have moved to other cities and return to UNNES solely to attend the graduation can utilize the UNNES Dormitory service at a relatively affordable cost. Meanwhile, colleagues and family members can take advantage of Wisma KWU UNNES and UTC Hotel Semarang, which currently accept bookings through various accommodation booking platforms such as Traveloka and tiket.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prof. Dr. Tommi Yuniawan, M.Hum., Dean of FBS UNNES, stated that the provision of these accommodations reflects the faculty’s attention and service to all graduation families. According to him, graduation is a special moment that should be experienced comfortably by all parties involved. “We want to ensure that families and colleagues coming from afar can experience the warmth of UNNES. Graduation is not just about the ceremony; it is about togetherness. By providing easy and affordable access to accommodation, we hope this moment becomes a beautiful memory for everyone,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Burhanudin, S.S., M.A., Vice Dean II of FBS UNNES, added that this service is a manifestation of the faculty’s commitment to providing the best service for students and their families. He also emphasized that the use of digital platforms for accommodation booking demonstrates UNNES’s adaptation to technological developments. “We continue to strive to present practical and modern services. By collaborating with platforms like Traveloka and tiket.com<\/a>, graduation families can easily plan their stay. This is part of our effort to support the comfort and smooth running of the graduation ceremony,” he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This accommodation service represents UNNES’s commitment to realizing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9, namely industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Through the provision of supporting infrastructure in the form of adequate accommodation, as well as the utilization of digital innovation in the booking system, UNNES contributes to building an inclusive and sustainable educational service ecosystem.
