The Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has once again achieved a remarkable milestone on the international stage. FBS UNNES lecturers were entrusted to perform at the “30th Anniversary of the Name Change Commemoration and the 81st Indonesian Independence Day Celebration,” organized by the Hiroshima Indonesia Association (HIA) at the Hotel Granvia Hiroshima, Japan, on August 25, 2026. This participation serves as tangible evidence of the international recognition of the artistic and cultural excellence possessed by the UNNES academic community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, which took place in a festive atmosphere, was attended by approximately 160 invited guests, including the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Osaka, John Chayanto Bustami, and officials from the Hiroshima Prefectural Government. In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of HIA, Matsufuji, expressed profound appreciation for the active participation of the lecturers from UNNES, who had graciously accepted the invitation to attend and enliven the annual celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most special moment of the event was the captivating performance by the FBS UNNES lecturers, who presented traditional Indonesian dances. With dynamic movements and culturally significant costumes, they successfully mesmerized the entire audience. This performance served not only as entertainment but also as an effective medium to introduce the rich cultural heritage of the Indonesian archipelago to the Japanese community and the Indonesian diaspora in Hiroshima. The participation of FBS UNNES lecturers in this cultural mission to Japan represents a globally oriented form of community service. Beyond serving as a platform for demonstrating artistic excellence, the presence of FBS UNNES lecturers in Hiroshima also became an effective promotional tool for Universitas Negeri Semarang on the world stage. By performing before prominent figures and the wider community in Japan, UNNES has demonstrated its existence as a university that excels not only in academics but also actively promotes Indonesian culture on the global stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The series of events was also utilized to introduce Indonesian students who will complete their undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Japan this autumn. Additionally, visitors were treated to various other interesting activities, such as a bazaar featuring typical Indonesian goods initiated by students from Hiroshima University of Economics as a form of support for development in their home country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hiroshima Indonesia Association as the organizer has expressed its commitment to continuing to deepen friendship and mutual understanding between Indonesia and Japan.
