The Master’s Program in English Language Education, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), successfully held a general lecture titled \u201cInnovative English Language Teaching in the Digital and AI Era.\u201d The event took place on Wednesday, April 15, 2025, at the FBS Deanery’s Semi-Circular Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The general lecture featured an international guest speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ng Lee Luan from Universiti Malaya. In her presentation, she emphasized the critical importance of integrating digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) into English language teaching to create more personalized, interactive, and adaptive learning experiences. Furthermore, she encouraged students to develop autonomous learning skills as an essential competency for navigating the digital age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event commenced with a report from the Chairperson of the Committee, who is also the Coordinator of the Master’s Program in English Language Education, Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.Pd., M.Pd. In her opening remarks, she stated that the activity aimed to broaden students’ perspectives and prepare them to face the challenges of education within the ongoing digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The session was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Research, Business, and Partnership, Faculty of Languages and Arts, UNNES, Mohamad Yusuf Ahmad Hasyim, Lc., M.A., Ph.D. In his speech, he underscored the strategic importance of international collaboration in enhancing educational quality and expanding global academic networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond the academic session, the event served as a significant milestone with the signing of an Implementation of Agreement (IA) between the Faculty of Languages and Arts (UNNES) and Universiti Malaya. The signing was conducted by the Vice Dean III of FBS UNNES and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ng Lee Luan, representing their respective institutions. This partnership is expected to unlock broader opportunities in academic collaboration, research, and future student and faculty exchange programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The organization of this General Lecture reflects the commitment of the Master’s Program in English Language Education at FBS UNNES to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By enhancing student competencies and strengthening technology-based learning quality, this activity contributes to\u00a0SDG 4 (Quality Education). The integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence in learning also aligns with\u00a0SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), which promotes innovation and technological transformation within the education sector. Meanwhile, the collaboration between FBS UNNES and Universiti Malaya, formalized through the Implementation of Agreement signing, exemplifies the implementation of\u00a0SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)\u00a0by reinforcing international partnerships in education, research, and human resource development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
