Beyond serving as an educational and entertaining activity, the festival is also expected to help reduce children&#8217;s dependence on gadget use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants in the festival came from 16 elementary schools in Semarang City and its surrounding areas. A variety of traditional competitions were held, including a slingshot contest and a folklore performance competition specifically for elementary school students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Head of the Subdirectorate of Conservation at UNNES, Prof. Dr. Nana Kariada Tri Martuti,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/m.si\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M.Si<\/a>.,&nbsp;stated that the event carries important educational value for children&#8217;s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Traditional games not only introduce local culture but also teach character values such as sportsmanship, creativity, cooperation, and courage,&#8221; she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the girls&#8217; singles slingshot competition, first place was won by Ghania Risqi Amira from SDN Petompon 02. Second place went to Hasna Tsaqif from SDN Sekaran 02, while third place was taken by Alisha Khaira Wilda from SDN Sadeng 02.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the boys&#8217; singles category, Syafiq Arfa from SDN Sekaran 02 secured first place. Second place was won by Azka Putra Diansyah from SD Labschool UNNES, and third place went to Farchan Ubaidillah from SDN Polaman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the doubles category, the pair of Rakha Endrawan and Hotala Panji from SDN Petompon 02 emerged as champions. Second place was won by the pair of Shavya Nabilah and Raka Adiasta from SD Randugarut, while third place was taken by Alexio and Aditya Wahyu from SDN Ngaliyan 02.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the slingshot contest, the festival also featured a folklore competition showcasing students&#8217; creativity in performing folktales and traditional culture. In this category, SDN Mangunsari 01 secured first place with a total score of 780. Second place went to SDN Pakintelan 02 with a score of 772, while SD Labschool UNNES took third place with a score of 738.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enthusiasm from participants and accompanying teachers was evident throughout the event. Beyond being a competition arena, the festival also served as a space for children to reconnect with traditional games and culture that are increasingly rarely encountered in daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the 2026 Traditional Children&#8217;s Games Festival and Competition, UNNES hopes that the younger generation will continue to know, preserve, and love local culture as part of the nation&#8217;s identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2026 Traditional Children&#8217;s Games Festival and Competition supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through the strengthening of character education based on local culture.
