The statement was delivered during the opening of the FBS UNNES Work Meeting, held at the Golden Hill Hotel in Malang on Tuesday (February 4, 2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work meeting serves as a strategic forum for FBS UNNES to reaffirm its institutional shift from a conventional academic center to a solution-oriented faculty addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. This transformation aligns with UNNES\u2019s PTN-BH policy, which emphasizes the downstream application of knowledge to generate tangible benefits for society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his address, the Rector emphasized that the disciplines of language and the arts play a critical role in advancing sustainable development. The academic strengths of FBS are expected to be translated into impactful programs, including literacy development, cultural preservation, empowerment of the creative economy, and environmental awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFBS must position itself as a strategic driver of solutions based on language, arts, and culture\u2014not only for academic advancement, but also for broader societal impact,\u201d the Rector stated during the opening session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond internal transformation, the FBS UNNES Work Meeting also reaffirmed the faculty\u2019s commitment to supporting the university\u2019s international reputation through global ranking systems such as the QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR). These efforts will be pursued through the strengthening of reputable research, international publications, global collaborations, and innovative learning practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FBS transformation agenda is also aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), positioning language and arts as strategic instruments for promoting inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development. The multi-day work meeting focuses on formulating work programs, defining key performance indicators, and developing implementation strategies for FBS\u2019s transformation within the UNNES framework as an impact-oriented university.
