The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) held an international Webinar with the theme “How To Write A Book/Book Chapter And Get It Published By A Reputable International Publisher”.
This international webinar presented Assoc resource persons Prof. Dr. Zainul Akmar Zakaria from UTM Malaysia and Dr. John Ryan from Southern Cross University, Australia and moderated by Arif Widiyatmoko SPd MPd PhD in Ed, a lecturer at FMIPA UNNES.
On this occasion, the Rector of UNNES Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman MHum motivated UNNES lecturers to publish their scientific works in the form of books/book chapters published by reputable international publishers.
“Awareness of scientific dissemination is important. Knowledge must be passed down so that it reaches the community and society uses it from the knowledge that we develop. Scientific downstreaming can only be done through research and publications,” said Prof Fathur.
In the panel session, Zainul revealed several strategies and steps in writing and publishing Book/Book Chapters in the field of STEM. “Writing a book is not easy, but it is not impossible.” Zainul said.
In his presentation, Dr. John revealed several strategies in starting writing in the field of Social Humanities, one of which was by setting time every day of the week to write.
He also describes several strategies for choosing publishers with international reputation, such as choosing publishers that are good at distribution and marketing such as Routledge, Springer, and Palgrave Macmillan.
Through this webinar, it is hoped that UNNES lecturers and researchers can improve their ability in writing book chapters and can be published by reputable international publishers which have an impact on increasing the reputation and ranking of UNNES on a national and international scale, and contributing significantly to the progress of the nation.
