Department of Politics and Citizenship on Thursday (11/10), held a public lecture with Prof. A Rahman Tang Bin Abdullah PhD from the University Malaysia Sabah. The public lecture with the theme “Indonesian and Malaysian Nationalism in the Historical Perspective” is intended to provide knowledge and insight to students majoring in Politics and Citizenship to further explore the sense of nationalism. In this case specifically discussing nationalism in Indonesia and Malaysia.
The public lecture held at the C7 Building of the Faculty of Social Sciences was opened by the Vice Dean 3 of the Faculty of Social Affairs Student Affairs Drs Ngabiyanto MSi. This public lecture was attended by students of Political Science study program batch 2017 and Pancasila and citizenship Education batch 2016. This activity was also attended by a lecturer in Politics and Citizenship at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The holding of this public lecture was accompanied by a moderating discussion by the lecturer of the Civics Department Giri Harto Wiratomo SPd MHum.
Prof. Rahman stated that nationalism is abstract, meaning that there are many opinions that define the meaning of nationalism itself. One of the pillars of nationalism in a country is that it must pay attention to the public interest. In addition he also explained that nationalism is closely related to the nation good, therefore nationalism plays an important role in the state.
