Universitas Negeri Semarang tidak hanya membangun gedung dan melengkapi sarana, namun juga berusaha meningkatkan kualitas konten didalamnya. Hal tersebut meliputi curriculum development (pengembangan kurikulum), peningkatan kualitas akademik, dan pelayanan secara maksimal kepada warga kampus.

Hal itu ditandaskan Pembantu Rektor Bidang Pengembangan dan Kerja Sama Universitas Negeri Semarang, Prof Fathur Rokhman, saat membuka acara Internal Start Up Workshop Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Universitas Negeri Semarang, Kamis (26/1) di Gumaya Tower Hotel Semarang.

Dalam hubungan kerja sama dengan IDB, salah satu wujudnya Unnes akan mengirimkan 16 dosen ke luar negeri untuk tugas belajar dengan beasiswa dari bank tersebut. “Tentunya setelah merampungkan tugas belajar, para dosen akan menyampaikan ilmu yang akan memperkuat budaya ilmiah di universitas konservasi,” katanya.

Direktur Agama dan Pendidikan Badan Perencanaan dan Pembangunan Nasional (Bappenas), Dr Subandi MSc mengemukakan, untuk meningkatkan kualitas, relevansi, dan daya saing pendidikan tinggi, lembaga pendidikan haruslah memperhatikan keseimbangan antara jumlah program studi dengan tuntutan kebutuhan pembangunan dan masyarakat daerah.

“Perlu penguatan kemitraan perguruan tinggi, lembaga litbang, dan industri, dalam hubungannya dengan perguruan tinggi sebagai pusat pengembangan dan penelitian iptek,” tandasnya.

Sementara Zandy Akbar dari Direktorat Pinjaman dan Hibah Kementerian Keuangan mengungkapkan, pinjaman luar negeri yang digunakan untuk pembangunan kampus, termasuk dalam kategori pinjaman kegiatan.

“Pinjaman luar negeri harus transparan, akuntabel, efisien, dan efektif,” tandasnya. Selain itu juga harus memenuhi prinsip kehati-hatian, tidak disertai ikatan politik, dan tidak mengganggu stabilitas negara.

Dalam hal peningkatan kualitas akademik, Unnes melalui bidang pengembangan dan kerja sama juga telah melakukan tes penjaringan bahasa Inggris untuk mengirim dosen mengikuti pelatihan bahasa Inggris selama 6 bulan di Direktorat Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan. “Kegiatan tersebut akan berlangsung Februari hingga Juli 2012,” kata Prof Fathur.
