Pembangunan karakter melalui kurikulum pendidikan yang diterapkan di militer dibentuk untuk mengontrol tindakan yang menyimpang dari segi sosial dan hukum. Pada dasarnya, pendidikan yang diterapkan di Akademi Militer (Akmil) berbeda karena karakternya diperkuat dengan pemikiran rela berkorban dan bela negara.

Hal tersebut diungkapkan Direktur Jenderal Potensi  Pertahanan Kementerian Pertahanan (Dirjen Pothan  Kemhan) Dr Ir Pos M Hutabara saat menjadi pembicara pembuka dalam Seminar Nasional Pembangunan Karakter dan Pertahanan Negara, di Gedung AH Nasution Akademi Militer Magelang, Selasa (19/2).

Seminar yang terselenggara atas kerja sama Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) bersama Akmil Magelang itu mengusung tema “Pendidikan Karakter untuk Menghadapi Ancaman Disintegrasi Bangsa”.

Seminar dibuka Gubernur Akmil Mayor Jenderal TNI Istu Hari Subagio SE MM dan dihadiri tak kurang dari 500 peserta dari Akmil, Unnes, Akpol, pejabat kota Magelang, guru, dan peserta lain.

Pembangunan Karakter

Dalam seminar yang dipandu Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman (Unnes) dan Sonya Hellen Sinombor (Kompas) itu, tampil pula Prof Masrukhi MPd (Pembantu Rektor Bidang kemahasiswaan Unnes), Dra Jaleswari Pramodhawardani MHum (pengamat pertahanan dan peneliti Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia/LIPI), dan Prof Dr Ichlasul Amal, dosen Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) sebagai narasumber.

Prof Dr Ichlasul Amal menyampaikan pandangannya mengenai integrasi nasional, nation building, dan demokrasi. Mantan Rektor UGM itu pun memberikan gambaran mengenai konflik nyata di Indonesia.

Berbeda dari Prof Ichlasul Amal, Prof Masrukhi menyoroti pendidikan karakter yang diimplementasikan dan menjadi kunci dalam pertahanan negara.

“Dalam pendidikan karakter, masyarakat Indonesia tak hanya harus cerdas dalam konteks intelektual, namun juga memiliki kecerdasan spiritual, emosional, dan sosial, serta kinetis yang harus dikembangkan secara berimbang,” tandasnya.

Adapun Jaleswari membahas radikalisasi terorisme yang diterapkan pada kurikulum Akmil. “Hal-hal tersebut penting untuk dieksplorasi agar Akmil tidak menghasilkan sekadar seorang teknisi, melainkan seorang prajurit profesional yang matang dalam mengalkulasi situasi, termasuk dalam zona war yang efektif,” tuturnya.

Pada akhir seminar, Prof Fathur Rokhman menyimpulkan, pendidikan karakter harus terus diperkuat karena pendidikan memiliki makna yang strategis dalam upaya pertahanan negara sebagai modal sosial mengatasi ancaman disintegrasi bangsa dalam korelasi global.
