Perubahan kurikulum pada 2013 mendatang memiliki tujuan untuk membentuk generasi yang tidak sekadar cerdas tapi juga memiliki perilaku sosial yang baik. Untuk itu, pola pengajaran dalam struktur kurikulum baru mendatang mencoba mendorong siswa agar lebih kreatif dan inovatif.

Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, Mohammad Nuh, mengatakan bahwa siswa dituntut untuk mampu mengembangkan pemikiran yang logis dan kritis. Sementara itu, para guru juga diminta untuk lebih terbuka terhadap jawaban anak dan menghargai proses si anak dalam mencari jawaban.

“Logika berpikir ini punya pengaruh terhadap perilaku sosial. Untuk itu, kita dorong anak-anak ini untuk mengembangkan logika berpikirnya,” kata Nuh saat di Gedung Kompas, Palmerah, Jakarta, Jumat (21/12/2012).

Jika selama ini anak-anak hanya dihadapkan dengan jawaban tunggal dari sebuah soal, maka tidak akan demikian dalam kurikulum baru ini. Anak-anak mendapat kebebasan untuk berekspresi dalam menjawab sebuah soal dan guru harus mampu mengakomodir hal tersebut.

“Misalkan ada persegi panjang dengan lebar empat dan panjang enam, kelilingnya pasti 20. Nanti soalnya dibuat lebih variatif lagi dan anak-anak dapat menjawab sesuai dengan pemahaman mereka,” jelas Nuh.

Ia juga menambahkan bahwa berdasarkan hasil studi TIMSS 2007 dan 2011, kemampuan siswa Indonesia umumnya berada pada soal level menengah yang hanya membutuhkan pengetahuan untuk diaplikasikan. Sementara kemampuan untuk menalar dan mencari tahu tidak pernah diasah karena anak hanya dijejali dengan jawaban tunggal untuk menentukan benar atau salah.

“Dengan kurikulum baru tidak akan lagi seperti itu, untuk satu soal bisa saja punya banyak alternatif jawaban. Karena orang yang biasa berhadapan dengan banyak jawaban maka toleransinya tinggi,” tandasnya.

Sikap toleran tidak hanya seperti dicontohkan itu tetapi yang lebih konkret, misalnya toleran terhadap teman yang berbeda agama, kultur, dan status sosial, termasuk toleran terhadap orang yang berbeda pendapat.     perubahan kurikulum menuju ke karakter anak agar lebih toleran seyogyanya sudah segera dipersiapkan sejak mahasiswa terutama yang saat ini berada di FKIP maupun IKIP atau PT yang dahulunya IKIP Negeri. para pengajar/dosen sudah juga menawarkan pola pengajaran yang mengarah kepada sikap toleran. jangan seperti saat ini, mahasiswa pendidikan nantinya dituntut dapat mengajar dengan PAKEM, tetapi para dosen di LPTK tidak pernah menunjukkan pengajaran yang PAKEM selama perkuliahan. mari kita introspeksi dan segera mungkin mempersiapkan diri sebelum kurikulum 2013 diterapkan. semoga…
