Mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) melaunching mobil hemat energi Pandawa. Mobil ini rencananya akan diikutkan lomba mobil hemat energi di Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) Surabaya pada 6-11 November 2017.

Manajer Tim Pandawa UNNES, Rifky Mufti Rahman, mengatakan mobil Pandawa Urban Concept ini adalah seri terbaru dari mobil hemat energi sebelumnya. Untuk pengembangan dan penerapan teknologi terkini, kami membutuhkan waktu selama empat bulan untuk melakukan riset.

Mobil Pandawa sendiri menjadi andalan UNNES untuk mengikuti berbagai perlombaan sejenis, baik untuk mobil listrik maupun mobil mesin. Sejak 2012, ada lima mobil yang dibuat dengan tiga berbahan bakar bensin dan dua mobil menggunakan listrik.

Rifky mengatakan Pandawa Urban Concept ini menggunakan teknologi fuel injection sehingga untuk kebutuhan bahan bakarnya bisa disetel. Sementara untuk material juga menggunakan bahan yang ringan rapi kuat. Mobil ini sendiri beratnya hanya 90 kilogram. Bahan bakar gasoline bensin sehingga lebih ramah lingkungan. Ini sesuai dengan visi Unnes yang mendeklarasikan diri sebagai kampus konservasi.

Total ada tiga mobil yang akan mengikuti lomba di ITS. Setiap mobil beranggotakan tujuh mahasiswa dari berbagai jurusan sesuai kebutuhan. Kita juga melibatkan mahasiswa jurusan Ekonomi untuk mengatur keuangan tim.

Kaprogdi Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik UNNES, Syamsudin mengatakan tim Pandawa tahun ini ditargetkan meraih juara. Kita mengapresiasi para mahasiswa yang ikut lomba. Kita berharap kali ini menjadi juara setelah tahun lalu meraih juara keempat.

Wakil Rektor Bidang Akademik UNNES, Prof Dr Rustono Mhum bangga dengan kreatifitas mahasiswa ini, saya sangat bangga mempunyai mahasiswa yang kreatif dan inovatif. Hal ini mendorong UNNES menjadi universitas yang bertaraf internasional.
