Agus Waltono nampak serius memandangi layar laptopnya. Setelah kompetisi berakhir, di serambi Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Kesenian Jawa itu, Agus tetap menulis artikel berbahasa Jawa di Wikipedia. Sebuah situs terkemuka berbasis pengetahuan bebas.

Dia hanya satu dari beberapa alumni Universitas Negeri Semarang yang tetap aktif menulis dan menyunting artikel berbahasa Jawa di laman itu. Masih ada teman seangkatannya Chafid Ibnu Abdillah yang telah lulus dan bekerja di daerah asalnya, Pemalang, juga Sigit yang telah mengajar dan sedang menunggu wisuda. Sewaktu kompetisi digulirkan, mereka masih tercatat sebagai mahasiswa Unnes.

Seperti pernah diberitakan, Wikipedia bekerja sama dengan Unnes mengadakan kompetisi Papat Limpad. Kegiatan tersebut mencari 4 orang yang mampu bertahan, menulis artikel berbahasa Jawa sebanyak-banyaknya dan sesempurna mungkin. Semenjak diluncurkan pada bulan Juni 2011, ribuan artikel telah terunggah di laman itu.

Empat orang terpilih dari ratusan mahasiswa yang mengikuti kompetisi adalah Pangestika, Chafid Ibnu Abdillah, Yayuk Daulati, dan Agus Waltono. Ketiganya merupakan mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Jawa FBS Unnes. Selain itu juga Arum sebagai juara IV, yang merupakan satu-satunya mahasiswa Jurusan Ekonomi. Mereka masing-masing menenteng laptop pemberian Wikipedia yang kala itu diserahkan langsung oleh Pembantu Rektor Bidang Akademik Unnes, Agus Wahyudin MSi.

“Berakhirnya kompetisi kemarin bukan berarti tamatnya menulis artikel berbahasa Jawa di Wikipedia,” kata Agus Waltono.

Meskipun begitu, dia mengakui semangat menulis dan menyunting artikel bersama teman-temannya tak sehebat dulu. “Mungkin karena iklim kompetisi telah berakhir. Hal itu sedikit banyak menurunkan semangat teman-teman untuk bersaing,” ujarnya. Selain itu, dia juga memaklumi beberapa temannya telah sibuk bekerja dan mengerjakan skripsi.

Tak hanya Jawa

Apa yang mereka tulis di Wikipedia? Tak hanya artikel tentang kebudayaan Jawa yang mereka tulis di laman jv.wikipedia.org itu, namun juga mengenai tokoh-tokoh besar dunia, tokoh sepak bola, artis, obyek wisata, hingga makanan khas dari daerah tertentu, semua ditulis dalam bahasa Jawa.

Sigit, yang ketika kompetisi didaulat Wikipedia menjadi panitia lokal Unnes mengungkapkan, tahun 2012 akan diadakan kompetisi serupa. “Kabar yang saya terima dari pihak Wikipedia, tahun ini akan kembali diselenggarakan kompetisi serupa, dengan jangka waktu yang lebih panjang,” katanya.

Dalam kesempatan berbeda, Direktur Proyek Papat Limpad Wikipedia Prasetyo mengungkapkan, laman tersebut memang dikhususkan untuk membebaskan pengetahuan. “Siapa pun dapat menulis dan menyunting di Wikipedia dengan sumber rujukan yang relevan,” katanya.

Selain bahasa Jawa, Wikipedia juga mengembangkan artikel berbahasa Sunda dan Banyumasan. “Kalau tidak ada yang menulis atau menyunting artikel dalam ragam bahasa tersebut, maka otomatis juga akan hilang dari laman,” ujarnya.

Melalui upaya ini, Wikipedia ingin menjaga keberadaan bahasa daerah Indonesia dan ikut berupaya mengembangkannya. “Mari kita bebaskan pengetahuan!” pungkasnya.
