Perhatian sekitar 500 mahasiswa PGSD Tegal langsung tertuju pada Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum ketika acara dialog rektor dan mahasiswa PGSD Tegal dimulai, Rabu (12/3) pagi tadi. Pasalnya, alih-alih memulai pidato, profesor sosiolinguistik ini justru mengambil selembar uang seratus ribuan lusuh dari sakunya.

Ia kemudian bertanya pada mahasiswa, “Ada yang mau uang ini?” Tak pelak, hampir seluruh mahasiswa mengacungkan tangannya. Rektor kemudian mengambil uang lima puluh ribuan yang masih baru. “Kalau dibandingkan yang ini, mana yang akan Anda pilih?”

Serempak, mahasiswa memilih uang seratusan ribu meski sudah lusuh. Rektor kemudian menantang salah satu mahasiswa untuk maju dan menjelaskan alasannya memilih seratusan ribu. Onny, mahasiswa yang maju itu menjawab “Meskipun lecek, uang ini lebih bernilai daripada uang lima puluh ribu yang baru,” katanya. Lantaran dinilai dapat menjawab dengan argumen yang baik, Onny berhak mendapatkan uang lecek yang dinilainya lebih berharga itu.

Rektor menggunakan cara itu sebagai prolog untuk menyampaikan pelajaran bahwa sesuatu bisa menjadi bermanfaat karena ada nilainya. Strategi itu berhasil membuka kran komunikasi Rektor dan mahasiswa. Hasilnya, seperti tanpa jarak, sejumlah mahasiswa dengan leluasan menyampaikan gagasan bagi pengembangan diri dan lembaga.

“Kalau Anda jadi mahasiswa, jangan sekadar jadi mahasiswa. Kalau Anda calon guru, jangan skeadar jadi guru. jadilah mahasiswa dan calon guru yang memiliki nilai, nilai manfaat bagi orang-orang di sekitar Anda,” katanya.

Dari Laboratorium hingga Dosen

Tak berhenti di situ, dalam dialog Rektor dan mahasiswa itu juga muncul sejumlah usulan pengembangan fasilitas belajar dari pengembangan laboratorium hingga penambahan jumlah dosen.  Agung Nugroho, misalnya, menyampaikan bahwa mahasiswa PGSD memiliki berbagai potensi baik di bidang seni maupun olahraga. Agar potensi itu dapat dikembangkan, ia meminta fasilitas dilengkapi.

“Terutama fasilitas olahraga, laboratorium bahasa, dan laboratorium microteaching yang amat penting bagi kami. Saya juga usulkan agar PGSD kembali menambah dosen karena selama ini ada dosen mengajar beberapa mata kuliah dengan beban mengajar yang cukup besar,” kata Agung.

Usulan-usulan itu dimanfaatkan Rektor untuk menyampaikan sejumlah program pembangunan universitas. Selain berencana membangun beberapa gedung baru, dengan dana Islamic Development Bank (IDB) universitas juga akan melengkapi fasilitas TIK di PGSD. “Tentu saja itu semua harus disusun dengan prioritas. Mana yang jadi prioritas, itulah yang akan dipenuhi lebih dulu,” katanya.

Hingga berita ini diturunkan dialog rektor dan mahasiswa masih berlangsung. Dialog akan dilanjutkan antara Rektor, Pimpinan Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan (FIP), dosen, serta karyawan PGSD UPP Tegal. Adapun ratusan mahasiswa mengikuti dialog bersama Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Keluarga Mahasiswa (BEM KM) Unnes.
