Survivalitas sangat dibutuhkan bagi seseorang atau sekelompok orang saat berada dalam keadaan gawat darurat. Misalnya  untuk mempertahankan hidup di hutan sebelum mendapatkan pertolongan.

Kapten Suroto, koordinator instruktur dari Resimen Induk Komando Daerah Militer (Rindam) IV Magelang menekankan hal itu di sela-sela pelatihan survivalitas peserta prakondisi Sarjana Mendidik di Daerah Terdepan, Terluar, dan Tertinggal (SM-3T), Kamis (4/10), di Badan Diklat Provinsi Jawa Tengah, Srondol, Semarang.

“Di hutan banyak persediaan makanan yang dapat kita makan, seperti buah-buahan, ubi-ubian, dan binatang. Pemberian pengetahuan dasar tentang survival ini  supaya peserta SM-3T mengetahui  buah, ubi, dan binatang apa yang bisa dimakan dan yang tidak bisa dimakan,” kata Kapten Suroto.

Dia juga mengatakan, peserta dilatih cara memasang perangkap hewan, menangkap ular, memasak binatang tangkapan, dan memasak nasi dengan bambu (tanpa panci).

“Ada kiat-kiat tertentu untuk mengenali tumbuh-tumbuhan yang bisa dimakan yakni terlebih dahulu hindari tumbuhan berwarna mencolok. Coba cicipi atau oleskan pada kulit dan tunggu beberapa menit. Jika terasa gatal dan panas, sebaiknya jangan di makan,” sarannya.

Dia juga mengemukakan, cara mudah untuk mendeteksi tumbuh-tumbuhan yang dapat dimakan adalah dengan memerhatikan sekitar tumbuhan itu. Jika ada jejak bekas gigitan hewan pada tumbuhan itu maka layak untuk dimakan. Pada prinsipnya  tumbuhan yang  dimakan binatang menyusui dan kera layak untuk kita makan.

“Jangan makan satu jenis tumbuhan terlalu banyak. Usahakan memakan tumbuhan yang lainnya  sedikit-sedikit,” imbau Kapten Suroto.

Bila tidak ada air, lanjut dia, bisa minum  air pada tanaman  yang berbatang lunak  seperti pohon  randu, rotan muda, pelepah enau, pohon pisang, dan bambu yang masih muda.

Sedangkan binatang yang bisa dimakan di antaranya jangkrik, jenis burung, laron, larva, madu, siput, belalang, katak hijau, kelinci, ular namun yang dipotong sejengkal dari kepala dan ekor guna menghindari racunnya, dan binatang besar lainnya.

    mf mgkn saran sya sdkt trlambt, pembekalan tdk hya bth bgmana cra brthn hdup dr krg bhn mkn/klparan. tapi jga dbritahu bgmana upaya p3k pada serangan binatang berbisa misal ular,lipan,kalajengking dsb. kjadian seperti it yg tlh kami alami ditmpt 3T. salam maju bersama.
