Peningkatan soft skill (kemampuan, bakat, atau keterampilan) bagi mahasiswa sangatlah urgen. Sebagai agent of change, mahasiswa tidak cukup dengan mengejar indeks prestasi (IP), berangkat kuliah, dan pulang mengerjakan tugas, begitu seterusnya, tetapi harus juga memiliki soft skill lebih. Kalau perlu, multitalenta, serbabisa, berkemampuan akademik bagus, aktif berorganisasi, dan berprestasi.

Secara khusus harapan tersebut disampaikan Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum kepada para mahasiswa penerima beasiswa Bidikmisi, Rabu (28/8), di kampus Sekaran. Rektor menyampaikan hal itu dalam acara peningkatan soft skill bagi mahasiswa baru Bidikmisi 2013.

“Mahasiswa harus berani menjadi inisiator, berani jadi orang terdepan yang lebih maju. Apa pun masalahnya, yang penting adalah karakter. Nilai kita adalah  karakter. Nilai kemanusiaan adalah karakter yang kita miliki,” katanya.

Pada acara yang dihadiri Pembantu Rektor  Bidang Akademik Dr Agus Wahyudin, Pembantu Rektor Bidang Kemahasiswaan Prof  Masrukhi, para dekan-pembantu dekan bidang kemahasiswaan itu,  staf ahli Pembantu Rektor III Alamsyah MKom melaporkan, pelatihan diikuti 1.750 mahasiswa.

Di sela-sela acara, tampil pula peserta See-Conic Unnes asal Jepang, Rara Sato. “Kalau kita punya impian, bekerja keraslah dan jangan pernah berhenti menggapai impian,” tuturnya dalam bahasa Jepang yang diterjemahkan  oleh Agung, salah satu panitia See-Conic 2013.
