Kamis, 11 Agustus tim Mahapala yang terdiri atas Manik Maya, Ma’rifah, dan Miftakhul Ulum bersama Kepala Divisi Pensosbud KBRI Moscow Aji Surya mengawali perjalanan dari Bandara Domodedovo ke Mineralyne Vody. Perjalanan ditempuh selama dua jam, sehingga pukul 14.00 waktu setempat tiba di Bandara Mineralyne Vody.

Tim kemudian melanjutkan perjalanan ke kota kecil Pyatigorsk dan bermalam di situ. Demikian siaran pers yang dikirimkan Khaerul Hamzah, ketua panitia, kepada unnes.ac.id, Rabu (17/8).

Setelah berkoordinasi dengan pengelola pendakian Gunung Elbrush, esok harinya pukul 05.00 waktu setempat tim melanjutkan perjalanan selama hampir lima jam ke Emanuil’s Glade (2.250 mdpl) yang merupakan first base camp pendakian di kaki gunung bagian utara itu.

Sisi uUtara Elbrus merupakan jalur dengan fasilitas minim. Pendakian harus dilakukan secara bertahap. Tidak seperti sisi selatan yang merupakan jalur pilihan utama bagi pendaki pada umumnya karena dipermudah dengan fasilitas kereta gantung yang akan meringankan pendaki untuk mencapai ketinggian tertentu. Hut atau penginapan kecil dengan pemanas ruangan pun tersedia di sini. Setiap saat, mobil salju atau snow car hilir-mudik untuk mengawasi dan mengangkut para pendaki dan para penggila olahraga ski.

Di Emanuil’s Glade itulah tim kembali bermalam dan secara resmi di lepas oleh Kepala Divisi Pensosbud KBRI Moscow yang mengikuti dari Moscow.

Sabtu, 13 Agustus, tim melakukan pendakian aklimatisasi dari first base camp Emanuil’s Glade ke North base camp di ketinggian 3.800 mdpl, dan kembali untuk bermalam di Emanuil’s Glade. Esoknya tim melanjutkan perjalanan menuju ke North base camp dan bermalam di situ. “Tim Mahapala Unnes melakukan pendakian gunung tertinggi Eropa, dan hari ini akan melakukan perjalanan ke ketinggian 3.800 mdpl,” begitu pesan singkat tim kepada panitia di Semarang via telepon satelit.

Senin, 15 Agustus, tim kembali melakukan pendakian aklimatisasi dengan memanjat Len’z Rocks di ketinggian 4.600 mdpl, dan kembali ke North base camp untuk bermalam. “Mas, kondisi kami alhamdulillah sehat semua. Kami sudah berada di 3.800, dan besok pagi hari kami akan meneruskan pendakian ke 4.600 dan camp di sana. Minta doanya dan salam buat semua teman di Semarang dan keluarga kami. Kami akan tetap berjuang untuk menyukseskan amanah ini,” begitu salah satu ucapan Ma’rifah satu-satunyaperempuan pendaki dalam tim saat berbincang dengan Khaerul Hamzah via telepon satelit pada Selasa dini hari.

Hingga berita ini diturunkan, tim sedang berjuang untuk menuju camp terakhir di Len’z Rocks. Rencananya, Rabu dini hari tim melakukan pendakian ke puncak bertepatan dengan 17 Agustus, Hari Ulang Tahun Ke-66 Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia.

    bukan hanya teman,saudara,senior atau 3 atlet yg berhasil mendaki puncak Mt. elbrus, tetapi Unnes dan Mahapala yg telah menakhlukannya….. Mahapala Jaya!
