Ruangan berbentuk persegi panjang itu tak cukup luas. Ukurannya hanya sekitar 4 x 8 meter. Dipetak menjadi dua, salah satu petak ruang itu didesain menjadi kamar. Tak seperti biasanya, ruangan  di Gang Kantil Nomor 41 Banaran ini ramai dikunjungi orang pada Jumat (10/1) malam. Sejak Maghrib, beberapa dosen dan mahasiswa sudah “mangkal” di sana. Ruangan bahkan sudah penuh pada pukul 7 malam itu.

Mereka datang untuk menghadiri tasyakuran pembukaan Rumah Buku Simpul Semarang (RBSS). Rumah buku ini didirikan oleh mahasiswa, dosen, dan alumni Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes). Konon, rumah ini dipersembahkan bagi siapa pun untuk dijadikan ruang alternatif persemaian ilmu. Maka, siapa pun boleh datang, baik untuk berdiskusi, menggelar pelatihan, atau sekadar menikmati cerita detektif Agatha Christy.

Sebagai ruang keilmuan alternatif, RBSS didirikan secara swadaya. Dosen, alumni, mahasiswa yang menggagas rumah buku ini rela merogoh kantong pribadi. Mereka juga menitipkan buku yang telah mereka hatamkan agar bisa dibaca orang lain di sini. Lantaran diniatkan sebagai rumah persemaian ilmu,  buku-buku di sana bisa dipinjam secara cuma-cuma.

Beragam Buku

Meski menempati ruang yang sangat terbatas, RBSS menawarkan ratusan koleksi buku. Di rak yang membantang sepanjang 4 meter tersimpan buku dengan berbagai judul. Jenis buku pun beragam, dari fiksi, pendidikan, sejarah, politik, hukum, hingga filsafat. Buku biografi Napoleon Bonaparte yang setebal empat ruas jari berjejer dengan American Soldier karya Tommy R Frank. Adapun Unyu Versitas, buku jenaka karya Yozar F Amrullah  tentang lika-liku mahasiswa selama kuliah, menempati ruang lainnya.

Tak hanya itu, RBSS juga membuka “kelas” bagi mahasiswa dan masyarakat sekitar untuk berbagi pengetahuan. Sementara ini, setidaknya ada enam kelas yang dibuka dwimingguan, seperti kelas Tan Malaka, kelas Ki Hajar, kelas Budaya Nusantara, hingga Ekonomi Kerakyatan. Namun, tak tertutup kemungkinan jenis “kelas” itu akan bertambah.

Said Muhtar, salah satu pendiri RBSS yang juga penulis buku Politik Hukum Tan Malaka, mengungkapkan, kelas-kelas ini sangat terbuka. Siapa pun bisa datang untuk menjadi “santri” tetapi juga bisa datang untuk menjadi “ustad”.

“Para pengasuh kelas-kelas ini direncanakan untuk menyajikan makalah dengan tema sesuai keahlian mereka,” kata alumni Fakultas Hukum Unnes yang kini bergiat di Satjipto Raharjo Institue itu.

Memantik Optimisme

Kehadiran RBSS memantik optimisme sejumlah mahasiswa dan masyarakat. Diharapkan, RBSS mampu menghidupkan ghirah keilmuan mahasiswa dan masyarakat. Ruang itu juga bisa menjadi ruang dialog yang mempertemukan mahasiswa dan masyarakat Sekaran-Banaran pada satu tema dilog.

Gunawan Budi Susanto misalnya, berharap kegiatan membaca dan berdiskusi di RBSS dapat melatih anak-anak muda untuk berani bersikap dan bersuara. Warga Dusun Gebyog ini optimis, banyak anak-anak muda kini yang jauh lebih cerdas dan mumpuni dari generasi sebelumnya.

“Maka, tidak perlu lagi kita mengelus-elus candi dengan mengagungkan pemikiran Soekarno, pemikiran Tan Malaka. Bahwa pemikiran Soekarno itu penting, pemikiran Tan Malaka juga penting, iya. Tetapi, kita hidup di zaman kita, dengan tantangan yang harus disikapi berbeda,” kata penulis buku Nyanyian Penggali Kubur dan Edan-Edanan di Zaman Edan itu.

    Selamat kpd alumni FH, yg sdh menunjukkan kepedulian thdp masy sekitar utk bersama sama, mengkaji ilmu dan mengembangkan pemikiran dan pengetahuan ygpada giliranya utk bermakna thdp orang lain,
    RBSS jgn berhenti saat pembukaan saja tetapi harapan kami bisa tumbuh dan berkembang dlm mencerdaskan kehidupan bgs,,…………selamat Muhtar atas ide kreatifmu.
    Saudara Rakhmat pengunggah di laman ini ajaklah bergabung dikomunitas ini, dia anak. ……eh saudara ini sosok brilian yg bisa sbg “ustad”utk menyebarkan ide dan gagasan.
