Rektor Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum melepas “Midnight Band” Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Band Unnes yang akan berlaga di ajang festifal band bertajuk Yamaha Asian Beat Music Competition 2013. Kegiatan yang diselenggarakan Yamaha Music Jepang itu akan digelar di Balai Sarbini Jakarta, Minggu 10 November mendatang.

UKM Band Unnes berhak mewakili Indonesia ke tingkat Asia setelah memenangkan kompetisi serupa di tingkat regional maupun nasional sebagai juara pertama,” Kami bertekad untuk menjadi juara umum. Kami membulatkan tekad untuk merebut prestasi terbaik,” ujar Pendamping UKM Band Unnes Abdulrachman MPd saat pamitan di Rektorat Kampus Sekaran Gunungpati, Kamis (7/11).

Semangat yang menggebu-gebu ditunjukkan oleh para musisi dari Program Studi Seni Musik Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni (FBS) Unnes, yaitu Haning (vokal), Yuhanes (guitar), Aldo (bass), Bahtiar (keyboard), Azis (kendang), dan Eryaya (drum). “ Mereka akan membawakan lagu ciptaan sendiri berjudul “Beautiful Things” yang akan dikemas dalam aransemen ethnic pop,” ungkap Mas Kempling, sapaan akrab Abdulrachman.

Melihat hal itu, Prof Fathur turut bangga akan semangat para musisi UKM Band Unnes. Orang nomor satu di Unnes itu menegaskan akan mendukung penuh para mahasiswa yang akan berlaga dalam even Asia.

“Saya sangat bangga dengan para mahasiswa yang akan berangkat ke Jakarta untuk mengikuti festival musik tingkat Asia. Saya yakin dengan semangat yang tinggi akan memperoleh hasil yang baik,” papar Profesor Sosiolinguistik itu.

Rektor juga mendoakan agar tim senantiasa diberi kesehatan dan selalu berprestasi. “Jagalah kesehatan biar maksimal dalam berlaga. Semoga kalian semua akan menjadi yang terbaik dan kembali dengan prestasi yang maksimal,” tutup Prof Fathur.
