Program Profesor and Doctor Go to School yang diselenggarakan Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) dengan materi program peminatan di SMA sebaiknya tidak hanya menjangkau guru. Untuk memastikan implementasi Kurikulum 2013 berjalan baik, para profesor dan doktor juga disarankan mendampingi orang tua, kelompok ibu-ibu, agar turut mendorong putranya belajar.

Permintaan tersebut disampaikan Guru Bimbingan dan Konseling (BK) Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Negeri 1 Slawi Sri Lestari MPd saat Dr Edy Purwanto menggelar Profesor and Doctor Go to School di Kabupaten Tegal, Rabu (7/5) di SMA Negeri I Slawi. Dalam acara yang bertema “Program peminatan dalam kurikulum 2013 : Urgensi dan Penyelenggaraannya” itu hadir ratusan Kepala Sekolah dan Guru BK se Kabupaten Tegal.

Permintaan ini memiliki dasar didaktik. Sebab, keberhasilan implementasi Kurikulum 2013 juga ditentukan oleh kerja sama orang tua. Selain itu, program peminatan dalam kurikulum 2013 untuk jenjang SMA dilihat berdasarkan rapor dan minat anak.

“Kalau nilai sudah tinggi bisa langsung sesuai minatnya, tapi kalau tidak tentu saja perlu bimbingan dari orang tua,” kata Sri Lestari.

Pendapat itu dikuatkan Kepala SMA Negeri 1 Slawi Dra Mimik Supriyatin. Ia meragukan sistem peminatan sejak kelas X bisa berjalan baik jika hanya mengandalkan guru BK. Oleh karena itu, pendampingan oleh orang tua dinilai sangat penting.

“Dalam kurikulum sekarang, anak diberi kesempatan untuk mengukur diri jadi tidak langsung penjurusan. Saya tidak kuat di Fisika maka masuk jurusan lain. Tapi kalau sekarang sangat mengandalkan pengarahan guru BK meskipun ada landasan nilai rapor SMP,” ujar Mimik Suprihatin.

Menanggapi hal itu, Dr Edy Purwanto menjelaskan Salah satu kebutuhan penting siswa SMA adalah self-esteem need atau kebutuhan untuk merasa berharga. Demi memenuhi kebutuhannya itu, siswa melibatkan diri dalam aktivitas-aktivitas yang menurut keyakinanannya bisa mendatangkan rasa bangga akan dirinya alias merasa berharga.

Sebagian siswa berhasil memenuhi kebutuhan untuk merasa berharga melalui pencapaian prestasi akademik di sekolah seperti memperoleh nilai raport tinggi, menjadi bintang kelas, menjadi tim olimpiade, dan sebagainya.

“Sebaliknya, bagi siswa yang tidak mampu mencapai sukses dalam bidang akademik, akan mengalihkan orientasinya kepada bidang lain seperti bidang seni, olah-raga, atau bidang lain lagi yang diyakininya bisa mendatangkan rasa bangga seperti terlibat dalam tindak kenakalan,” katanya.

Menurutnya, Program peminatan di SMA dituntut untuk mampu membantu anak menemukan berbagai hal bernilai dari pelajaran yang diikuti, serta membantu siswa menemukan kekuatan yang dimiliki dalam belajar, dan memilih kelompok pelajaran yang sesuai dengan minat dan bakatnya, “untuk membantu siswa mengetahui minat dan bakat secara akurat, guru BK perlu bekerjasama dengan instansi tertentu yang memiliki kewenangan menyelenggarakan tes psikologi. Harus dipastikan bahwa alat-alat tes bakat dan tes minat yang digunakan adalah alat-alat tes psikologi yang valid dan reliable,” kata Edy.
