Prof Jeffrey Alaya Milligan PhD, Helen N Boyle PhD, dan Young Suk Kim dari Florida State University melakukan penelitian program membaca di Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes).

Rombongan bersama Ajar Budi Wicaksono dari USAID Prioritas diterima oleh Dr Januarius Mujiyanto MHum ketua International Office Unnes, Selasa (18/11) di rektorat kampus Sekaran. Hadir Hendi Pratama, Dekan FBS Prof Agus Nuryatin, Dekan FIP Harjono MPd, dosen dan pejabat di lingkungan Unnes yang terkait, serta kepala sekolah dan guru mitra.

Ajar Budi Wicaksono menyampaikan, kedatangan Prof Jeffrey Alaya Milligan dan kawan kawan ini menindaklanjuti kerjasama yang sudah lama ditandatangani dalam hal penelitian dan hasil pertemuan antara Unnes dengan USAID terkait dengan agenda University Partnership dengan Florida State University.

Mereka ingin melihat bagaimana program membaca itu dilaksanakan di Indonesia, khususnya di Unnes, alumni Unnes, dan para siswa (SD) tutur Budi.

Dr Januarius Mujiyanto MHum, menerangkan di Unnes tidak ada jurusan membaca, sedangkan yang diharapkan dari Florida State University ketika datang ke Unnes mereka berangan angan ada program studi membaca.

Sebab, kata Mujiyanto di Florida State University memang ada bidang studi membaca, sedangkan di Unnes membaca itu bagian dari mata kuliah.

“Ini tidak menjadi masalah dari diskusi nanti akan muncul kesulitan apa yang dihadapi dan perbedaan apa yang ada akan dibahas,” kata Mujiyanto.

Mujiyanto menambahkan, dalam penelitian ini ada wawancara individu untuk memperoleh gambaran bagaimana pelaksanaan pelajaran membaca di sekolah, FGD membahas kesulitan kesulitan apa yang dihadapi oleh guru saat mengajar.

Dalam penelitian itu melibatkan jurusan Bahasa Indonesia, mengunjungi PGSD Ngaliayan, SD Lab School Unnes, SDN Beringin 2, dan SDN Kalibanteng 1.
