Dengan mengusung tema Go Green, penyelenggara Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XVIII Riau berencana mengadopsi konsep hijau yang selama ini dikembangkan Unnes dengan gerakan konservasinya.

Ketua Harian PON XVIII Syamsurizal mengatakan, konsep hijau menjadi tuntutan dunia. “Ini bukan isu lokal, tapi tuntutan dunia. Unnes saya pikir sudah memberi inspirasi yang berharga. Saya akan pelajari supaya bisa diterapkan saat PON,” katanya dalam diskusi Go Green PON XVIII Tahun 2012, di ruang sidang Senat kampus Sekaran, Jumat (14/1).

Syamsurizal yang disertai beberapa rektor dari Riau mengungkapkan kekagumannya pada konsep green campus yang selama ini dikembangkan Unnes. Menurutnya, Unnes berhasil mengembangkan kampus hijau, tidak sekadar teori tetapi praktik. “Ini kunjungan yang sangat bermanfaat bagi kami. Karena itu, konsep ini akan segera kami susun sehingga bisa kami presentasikan juga di SEA Games Concil,” lanjutnya.

Ketua Tim Konservasi Unnes Dr Margaretha Rahayuningsih MSi mengungkapkan, konsep konservasi tidak hanya dari aspek fisik. “Kami juga perhatikan betul konservasi moral dan budaya, termasuk memerangi mencontek,” katanya.

Menurutnya, di areal kampus Unnes kini terdapat setidaknya 103 jenis tanaman. Jumlahnya sekira 17.000. “Tanaman sebanyak itu bisa menyerap 166.000 kilogram CO2 yang dihasilkan kendaraan bermotor di kampus,” kata dosen Jurusan Biologi FMIPA ini.

MoU Unnes-Riau

Sebelum diskusi, Gubernur Riau HM Rusli Zainal dan Rektor Unnes Sudijono Sastroatmodjo menandatangani naskah kesepahaman Pemprov Riau-Unnes. Gubernur Riau yang disertai Rektor Universitas Laucang Kuning, Rektor Universitas Riau, dan Rektor Universitas Islam Negeri Riau itu juga mengikuti senam massal konservasi di lapangan depan rektorat.

“Kami sengaja mengajak rektor dari berbagai perguruan tinggi karena pelaksanaan PON akan menggunakan fasilitas di kampus-kampus. Kami tidak ingin persiapan yang kami lakukan mubazir. Sudah dibangun mahal, nanti bisa mubazir. Karena itu, kami mengajak para rektor,” katanya sebelum menanam pohon di kampus tersebut.

Semangat menanam pohon,mengelola air,sampah,sesedikit mungkin menggunakan kertas,dstnya sudah mulai merasuk ke Warga UNNES. Ini semua dilakukan agar Planet Bumi yang Indah ini bisa lebih lama kita tinggali. Namun kadang perilaku kita misalnya dlm makan masih belum sadar bahwa konstruksi “Mulut dan Gigi” dan panjangnya “usus” kita tidak dirancang utk “makan daging”shg menimbulkan penyakit akibat makan daging ini Luar Biasa…Persepsi kita juga salah mengenai Kontributor Pemanasan global yg selama ini mengkambing-hitamkan gas buang kendaraan bermotor pdhl hanya 13% sj,yg lebih besar justru “Industri Peternakan” yg menyumbangkan 18% dan menghasilkan 51% gas metana yg kekuatannya = 10.000 kali kekuatan nuklir yg ada di Planet ini. Utk menurunkan suhu Planet ini murah dan mudah yakni menjadi Vegetarian atau kalau blm bisa mengurangi konsumsi daging yg sumbangannya trhdp “Pemanasan Global” jauh lebih mengerikan dr pd seluruh mesin/alat transportasi yg ada di Planet ini.
