Menghadapi persaingan dalam era globalisasi ini akan sangat ditentukan oleh kualitas sumber daya manusia (SDM). Untuk menjawab tantangan tersebut Kemenristekdikti telah menetapkan tujuan strategi 2019 yang akan kita capai yakni “Meningkatnya revitalisas, kuantitas dan kualitas SDM berpendidikan tinggi, serta kemampuan Iptek dan inovasi untuk keunggulan daya saing bangsa”.

Rektor Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum menyampaikan itu saat membacakan sambutan tertulis dari Menteri Riset Teknologi dan Perguruan Tinggi Republik Indonesia Prof H Mohamad Nasir PhD Ak pada Upacara 17 Agustus dan penerimaan 7682 mahasiswa baru UNNES secara resmi, Kamis (17/8) di lapangan Fakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan kampus Sekaran Gunungpati.

Upacara bendera diikuti ribuan orang dari kalangan dosen, mahasiswa lama dan baru, serta tenaga kependidikan.

Dengan kerja bersama kita yakin dapan mencapai tujuan strategi tersebut mulai dari diri kita sendiri, dari lingkungan sekitar kita, dan dari institusi. Bangun budaya anti plagiat, budaya keilmuan yang menghasilkan inovasi dan karya bermanfaat bagi kesejahteraan rakyat, membangun budaya kampus yang bersih, anti korupsi, anti narkoba, dan bebas dari faham radikalisme, membangun kesantunan, memperteguh jiwa Bhinneka Tunggal Ika dan Pancasila.

Dengan kerja bersama, maka kemajuan Indonesia yang berdaulat, mandiri, dan berkepribadian dapat makin cepat terwujud.

Pada kegiatan tersebut Rektor Prof Fathur Rokhman juga menyerahkan penghargaan tanda kehormatan Satyalancana Karya Satya kepada dosen dan tenaga kependidikan untuk masa bakti 30 tahun sebanyak 21 orang , 20 tahun (10 orang) , dan 10 tahun (7 orang) dari Presiden RI Joko Widodo. Kemudian, Rektor juga menyerahkan Surat Keputusan pegawai berprestasi tingkat universitas 2017. Bagi peringkat pertama berhak maju ke tingkat nasional.
