“Sudah saatnya Indonesia memiliki program bela negara yang terstruktur seperti yang dijalankan oleh Universitas Negeri Semarang”, demikian salah satu poin arahan Menteri Riset Teknologi dan Pendidikan Tinggi RI, Prof. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.D. kepada jajaran pimpinan Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Prof Nasir menyampaikan arahan tersebut pada kesempatan audiensi pimpinan UNNES dan Menristekdikti di Gedung D Kemenristekdikti di bilangan Senayan pada hari Selasa (19/7).

Dalam sambutannya, Menristekdikti mengapresiasi konsistensi UNNES dalam menjalankan kebijakan Uang Kuliah Tunggal (UKT) dan pembinaan mahasiswa Bidik Misi yang memiliki prestasi tinggi dan berkarakter konservasi. Pada Program Pengenalan Akademik (PPA) UNNES tahun 2016 nanti, Prof Nasir menyatakan siap untuk memberi motivasi secara langsung kepada mahasiswa baru yang diterima di UNNES.

Rektor UNNES, Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman, M.Hum., menyampaikan bahwa audiensi dengan Menristekdikti merupakan suatu bentuk interaksi dan kehangatan yang intens antara pemerintah dan perguruan tinggi. Prof Fathur menyampaikan bahwa sebagai pimpinan UNNES, beliau mendapat mandat dari Menteri untuk menambah jumlah Program Studi berakreditasi A. Rektor juga ditugaskan untuk memastikan fakultas dan pascasarjana untuk menghasilkan minimal 15 artikel per fakultas yang diterbitkan dalam jurnal internasional bereputasi.

Menteri menyampaikan penghargaan atas perhatian UNNES yang mengumpulkan dana dari seluruh dosen dan tenaga kependidikan untuk menyediakan akses bagi mahasiswa miskin. Dana ini dikumpulkan dan dikelola melalui Rumah Amal Lazis UNNES dan digunakan semaksimal mungkin untuk membantu mahasiswa kurang mampu. Dengan kepedulian sosial seperti ini, Prof Nasir yakin bahwa UNNES mampu meraih reputasi internasional. “Saya sebagai Menteri siap mengawal proses internasionalisasi UNNES,” pungkas Menteri yang berasal dari Semarang tersebut.
