Sebagai seni drama tradisi, ketoprak di era modern semakin jarang digelar. Di samping makin sulit pula dalam regenerasi pemain, media pun semakin tidak memberi tempat yang memadai untuk bentuk kesenian ini.

Hal itu diungkapkan peneliti ketoprak Sucipto Hadi Purnomo dalam sarasehan “Upaya Revitalisasi Ketoprak di Jawa Tengah” Minggu (14/10), di B1 Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Negeri Semarang (FBS Unnes). Kegiatan yang dihadiri mahasiswa dan pemerhati budaya itu diselenggarakan oleh Komite Teater Dewan Kesenian Jawa Tengah (DKJT).

Dikatakan Sucipto, kesenian tradisi mengalami proses pengasingan di tengah masyarakat modern yang harusnya membiakkannnya. “Misalnya wayang krucil, opak obong, dan jathilan yang hidup segan mati tak mau, media televisi tidak memberi tempat terutama di jam yang banyak penontonnya,” ujar dosen Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Jawa FBS Unnes itu.

Infiltrasi naskah

Sebagai upaya revitalisasi, Sucipto mengatakan, naskah drama modern pun dapat diinfiltrasi ke dalam ketoprak, begitu pula sebaliknya. “Akan tetapi, ketoprak akan ditinggalkan penikmatnya jika telah benar-benar meninggalkan unsur tradisi,” katanya.

Di sisi lain, ketoprak pun dapat menjadi eksplorasi penggarapan bagi wujud kesenian lain. “Baik penggarapan adegan, iringan, maupun  hal pendukung lain dapat digarap sedemikian rupa,” ujarnya.

Sementara itu, seniman ketoprak Sony Wisnumurti mengatakan, krisis ketoprak menunjukkan betapa wong Jawa ilang Jawane. “Bahasa Jawa sebagai modal awal saja semakin jarang dipakai,” kata pria kelahiran Rembang itu.

Pendek dan gamblang

Sony mengatakan, sebagai upaya menanamkan perhatian kaum muda, ketoprak sekarang harus pendek ceritanya dan gamblang maksudnya. “Karena mau tidak era sekarang ini kebanyakan orang menganggap ketoprak sudah teramat kuno, sehingga wujudnya harus disesuaikan dengan teater modern,” ungkapnya.

Menurutnya, banyaknya bentrok fisik kaum terpelajar karena mereka kehilangan budi pekerti yang salah satunya dapat diasah melalui kesenian. “Sedikit banyak para pemimpin punya andil besar. Biasanya bila pemimpinnya senang pada seni, pastilah kesenian akan berkembang,” kata Sony.

Ketua Dewan Kesenian Jawa Tengah Prof Rustono memaparkan, sarasehan digelar sebagai upaya mengangkat potensi kesenian lokal. “Selain melakukan diplomasi dengan para pemangku kepentingan dan memasukkan kesenian ke dalam lembaga pendidikan, DKJT jugaselalu berupaya mewadahi berbagai kesenian tradisi,” tutur Prof Rustono.

    Memang perlu diakui bahwa kesenian kethoprak sudah semakin tergeser posisinya di era modern, jangankan kenal, anak muda jaman sekarang malah ada yang tidak tahu apa itu kethoprak. Kesenian bisa hidup kalau selalu ada regenerasi untuk melanjutkan eksistensinya. Workshop dan sarasehan memang sangat penting untuk lebih mengenalkan kesenian ini, tetapi mungkin perlu juga diadakan di luar, entah public space maupun kerjasama dengan sekolah-sekolah untuk lebih mengenalkan kethoprak pada generasi penerus yang memang sudah terkontaminasi budaya-budaya asing yang masuk, salam kethoprak…
