Mengajar bahasa Indonesia di negeri orang dapat dilakukan sambil memperkenalkan produk budaya Indonesia. Itulah yang dilakukan dosen Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) Wati Istanti SPd MPd. Saat mengajar di Universitas Mohammed V Rabat Maroko ia menggunakan media pembelajaran wayang.

Wayang yang dimainkan Wati adalah wayang kardus karena memang bahan yang terbuat dari kardus yang disesuaikan dengan jenis karakter cerita. Wati memainkan cerita Legenda Gunung Tangkuban Perahu.

Setelah melakonkan wayang, Wati memberikan beberapa pertanyaan untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman mereka terhadap cerita yang didengarkan. Wayang tersebut digunakan sebagai media untuk memudahkan mereka dalam memahami cerita.

Di negeri itu Wati mengikuti program Scheme Academic Mobility Exchange (SAME) BIPA Tahun 2015. Selain dengan wayang, ia juga memperkenalkan permainan tradisional seperti dakon, bekel, dan sejumlah lagu daerah kepada mahasiswa.

SAME 2015 adalah program Direktorat Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan Ditjen Dikti yang dilaksanakan mulai bulan September-Desember 2015.

“Program ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan diplomasi kebudayaan, memperkenalkan budaya Indonesia, menginternasionalisasikan bahasa Indonesia bagi penutur asing ke berbagai negara, menjalin kerja sama antaruniversitas,” tutur Wati kepada unnes.ac.id

Setelah program SAME berjalan diharapkan terjalin kerja sama university to ynoversity (U to U). Program ini merupakan program kedua yang diikuti oleh Wati Istanti. Sebelumnya, pada 2012 ia telah mengikuti program yang sama selama 2 bulan di Thailand.

“Cara seperti ini dengan sendirinya dapat digunakan untuk memperkenalkan Unnes sehingga bisa meningkatkan partisipan Program Darmasiswa di Universitas Negeri Semarang,” lanjutnya.
