Empat mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Semarang (FT Unnes) mengembangkan alat pemanfaatan gelombang laut menjadi energi listrik dengan dua sistem.

Mereka yakni Hendra Prasetyo, Ilham Eka fitrianto, Sutiyo, dan Wim Widyo Baskoro.

Mereka terinspirasi terjadinya pemadaman listrik bergilir di beberapa wilayah di Indonesia. Selain itu, betapa besar potensi gelombang laut yang ada di Indonesia karena luas wilayah perairan Indonesia 3 kali lebih besar dari luas daratan.

Energi gelombang laut merupakan energi yang tidak akan pernah habis dan selalu tersedia selama 24 jam.

“Konsep prototipe alat ini menggunakan dua sistem kerja yang saling tergabung menjadi satu yakni sistem oscillating water column dan gaya gerak listrik induksi,” kata Hendra Prasetyo, selaku ketua Tim.

Hendra menjelaskan, pemanfaatan gelombang laut yang ada sekarang ini kebanyakan hanya menggunakan 1 sistem. Sehingga jelas jika dengan menggunakan dua sistem maka output energi yang akan dihasilkan menjadi lebih besar.
