Tidak hanya dosen yang memiliki kesempatan berkiprah secara internasional. Melalui skema kerja sama penelitian dan pertukaran mahasiswa, mahasiswa baru juga memiliki kesempatan yang sama. Untuk memanfaatkan kesempatan itu, mahasiswa perlu menyiapkan diri dengan baik serta jeli memanfaatkan peluang.

Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum menyampaikan itu saat berbincang dengan mahasiswa baru Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA), Kamis (21/8) pagi.

Menurutnya, hubungan baik Unnes dengan perguruan tinggi lain di berbagai negara memungkinkan mahasiswa kedua perguruan tinggi bergaul melalu program penelitian. Selain itu, melalui pemrintah, sejumlah negara juga menyiapkan program pertukaran mahasiswa.

Baru-baru ini, misalnya, lima mahasiswa Unnes baru saja mengikuti program Asian Pacific Leaders Education Program (APL-EP) selama 30 hari di Brunei Darussalam.

September mendatang, empat mahasiswa Unnes juga akan mengikuti program Jenesys di Jepang selama sembilan hari. Adapun dua mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi, Hardiansyah Nur Sahaya dan Bayu Rizky Pratama, juga telah dijadwalkan mengikuti Hong Kong International Conference on Social Sciences (HKICSS) di Hongkong, Oktober 2014 mendatang.

“Bercita-citalah setinggi mungkin. Kata Bung Karno, gantungkan cita-cita setinggi langit. Kalaupun jatuh, kita akan jatuh di antara bintang-bintang,” kata Rektor.

Selain berbincang dengan mahasiswa baru FMIPA, secara bergiliran Rektor juga berbincang dengan mahasiswa baru Fakultas Hukum (FH), Fakultas Ilmu Sosial (FIS), dan Fakultas Teknik (FT).
