Alun tetabuhan gamelan Jawa sayup terdengar dari lapangan B1 Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Negeri Semarang, Rabu (18/12) pagi. Berturut-turut, gending yang dimainkan adalah Kebo Giro, Gugur Gunung, dan Suwe Ora Jamu.

Gamelan tidak sedang dipentaskan mahasiswa yang berasal dari fakultas itu, namun dimainkan oleh mahasiswa asing Program Darmasiswa. Di Unnes, selain belajar bahasa Indonesia, mereka belajar seni dan budaya. Selama hampir satu semester ini, karawitan adalah salah satu mata kuliah yang mereka dapat.

Angela Arunarsirakul, mahasiswa asal Amerika menyatakan, setelah mengenal gamelan dirinya semakin senang memainkannya. “Saya senang main gamelan bersama teman-teman,” katanya. Dalam memainkan gamelan, dia memegang instrumen bonang barung.

Sedangkan Asuka Tachizaki, mahasiswa asal Jepang, mengaku harus belajar lebih lama supaya bisa memainkan gamelan dengan terampil. “Sangat sulit, dan saya harus banyak belajar lagi,” katanya. Asuka memainkan bonang penerus. Selain mereka berdua, delapan mahasiswa asing lainnya memainkan instrumen demung, saron, kenong, dan gong.

Pementasan oleh mahasiswa Darmasiswa merupakan bagian dari “Gebyar Jawa”. Rangkaian acara “Gebyar Jawa” diawali dengan wisuda pawiyatan panatacara Kridhamadu (11/12), Festival Ketoprak Mahasiswa (16-17/12), dan akan diakhiri dengan Festival Drama Berbahasa Jawa Tingkat SMA/SMK, Januari 2014.

Ketua Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Jawa Yusro Edy Nugroho mengatakan, ditampilkannya mahasiswa Darmasiswa merupakan bagian dari upaya memotivasi para dosen dan karyawan supaya ikut belajar. “Ke depan, kami berharap Bapak dan Ibu dosen di FBS Unnes bisa terjadwalkan untuk bermain gamelan bersama-sama,” ujarnya.

Pembantu Dekan II FBS Unnes Dr Abdurracman Faridi MPd mengatakan, visi konservasi harus diaplikasikan secara lebih luas. “Mahasiswa Darmasiswa merupakan kader konservasi budaya yang banyak berperan dalam program konservasi budaya di Unnes,” katanya.
