Sebanyak 927 mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) mengikuti Upacara Wisuda Periode II 2018, Selasa, 15 Mei 2018. Wisudawan terdiri atas 30 doktor, 88 magister, dan 809 sarjana. Satu di antaranya mahasiswa S1 jurusan Teknik Elektro Fakultas Teknik UNNES, Ali Nur Fathoni penemu dispenser untuk tunanetra.

Ia berhasil membuat atau memodifikasi dispenser air minum (mineral) yang bisa sangat memudahkan penggunanya, terutama bagi kalangan tunanetra.

Ali menyatakan karya hasil tugas akhir yang dibimbing oleh Dr H Noor Hudallah MT dan Riana Defi Mahaqi Putri ST MT ini bermula dari keprihatinan dirinya saat melihat sebuah tayangan TV di mana seorang tunanetra mengambil air minum pada dispenser dengan cara mencelupkan jarinya ke dalam gelas.

“Kalau gelasnya berisi air dingin barangkali dengan mencelupkan tangan ke air di gelas di bawah kran dispenser tidak masalah, tetapi kalau air panas yang disentuhnya dengan tangan kan bisa kesakitan,” katanya.

Peristiwa tersebut menjadikan dirinya berpikir membuat karya tugas akhir rancang bangun dispenser khusus untuk tun netra dengan menggunakan microcontroller.

Mahasiswa penerima dana pendidikan Bidikmisi ini membuat dispenser dipasangi  microcontroller yang bisa mengeluarkan suara kalau air yang keluar di gelas adalah air dingin atau air panas. Sehingga penyandang tunanetra tidak salah menandai air dingin dengan air panas. Dispenser ini pun sudah diujikan pada komunitas tunanetra dan mereka merasa senang dan terbantu.

Rektor UNNES Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum menyambut senang dengan adanya penemuan tersebut. Ini membuktikan bahwa mahasiswa UNNES mempunyai daya saing. Harapan ke depan dispenser ini didaftarkan menjadi hak atas kekayaan intelektual (HAKI) dan terus dikembangkan, yang nantinya bisa dipakai untuk industri dan masyarakat.

Motivasi

Dalam Upacara Wisuda ini, hadir Rektor Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) Dr Arif Satria SP MSi. Pria kelahiran Pekalongan, 17 September 1971 ini terkenal sebagai sosok yang dekat dengan sesama dosen dan mahasiswanya. Banyak mahasiswa yang pernah mendapat kuliahnya kepincut dan menjadikannya sebagai idola lantaran pribadinya yang penuh inspirasi dan motivasi.

Lulusan Sarjana dan Pascasarjana IPB tahun 2010 ini terpilih sebagai Dekan Fakultas Ekologi Manusia (FEMA) IPB sekaligus menyandang Dekan termuda di IPB dan beberapa waktu yang lalu Majelis Wali Amanat (MWA) IPB menetapkan dirinya sebagai Rektor IPB Periode 2017-2022.

Dalam kesempatan ini, Rektor IPB memberikan motivasi kepada wisudawan UNNES dalam menghadapi era disrupsi. Lulusan perguruan tinggi belum banyak yang menjadi entrepreneur. “Saya menyebutnya technopreneurial karena menggunakan hasil-hasil inovasi. Selanjutnya, inovasi yang dihasilkan itu dikembangkan sehingga mereka menjadi technopreneurial,” ujarnya.

Menurutnya, sociopreneur di dalam kehidupan sosial, baik wirausaha dan technopreneur itu harus berkembang. Kampus diharapkan dapat menghasilkan lulusan yang bisa menopang sociopreneur itu.

“Wisudawan  harus mempunyai kompetensi, soft skill, dan karakter. Tentu dengan leadership, soft skill milenium, dan jiwa kebangsaan yang kuat. Dengan itu semua, para lulusan akan berkarya untuk menelorkan sesuatu yang hasil-hasilnya merupakan solusi atas persoalan-persoalan di masyarakat,” katanya.
