Kunjungan Tim Monitoring dan Evaluasi Sarjana Mendidik di Daerah Terdepan, Terluar, dan Tertinggal (SM3T) Angkatan V Universitas Negeri Semarang di Kabupaten Belu, Nusa Tenggara Timur, diterima oleh Kepala Dinas Pendidikan Belu, Patrisius Asa, dan Asisten Administrasi Kabupaten Belu, Ulu Emanuel, di aula Perpustakaan Belu, Jumat 27 Mei 2016.

Di hadapan pejabat kabupaten yang berbatasan dengan negara Timor Leste itu, tim yang beranggotakan Wakil Rektor Bidang Perencanaan dan Kerja Sama Prof Sukestiyarno PhD dan Kepala Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Prof Totok Sumaryanto MPd memromosikan pendaftaran mahasiswa baru di Universitas Konservasi. Meski pendaftaran calon mahasiswa melalui jalur Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SNMPTN) dan Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi (SBMPTN) telah lewat, namun masih ada kesempatan menjadi mahasiswa Unnes melalui alur Seleksi Mandiri.

Jalur tersebut bakal dibuka 1 Juni hingga 14 Juli 2016. Tes tertulis akan dilaksanakan 23 Juli 2016. “Kami juga membuka program afirmasi, yang memang dikhususkan bagi kelompok masyarakat daerah perbatasan dan daerah tertinggal,” kata Prof Sukestiyarno. Ia lantas mempersilakan dinas dan kabupaten untuk menjaring dan melakukan seleksi internal terhadap siswa SMA/sederajat yang berprestasi untuk mengikuti pendaftaran melalui Seleksi Mandiri tersebut.

Patrisius Asa menyambut tawaran itu dan menyatakan segera menindaklanjuti dengan melakukan koordinasi dengan kepala sekolah di wilayahnya. “Memang tawaran seperti ini sangat kami harapkan, agar anak-anak kami bisa berkuliah dan setelah lulus bisa kembali untuk membangun daerah,” katanya.

Permasalahan pendidikan di Kabupaten Belu, ia mengatakan, meliputi banyak hal, termasuk masih adanya kecamatan yang belum memiliki sekolah setingkat SMA. Selain itu, akses jalan yang sulit dilalui di sejumlah wilayah atas menjadi penghambat siswa untuk belajar di sekolah. Misalnya, jika hujan turun, siswa SD Hanowai, Kecamatan Lamaknen, dipastikan tak bersekolah karena jalan yang sulit dilewati. Hal itu dikarenakan selain berimpitan tebing yang curam, jalan bakal dipenuhi lumpur bercampur batu.

“Kami juga meminta jika ada bapak dan ibu guru SM3T yang ingin terus mengabdi di sini walau sudah selesai tugasnya, tetap diperbolehkan. Ke depa kami harap mereka terus ada di sini untuk mengajar anak-anak kami,” ujarnya.

Menanggapi hal itu, Prof Sukestiyarno mengatakan setelah setahun mengabdi di daerah 3T, para sarjana akan ditarik kembali di LPTK asal untuk menempuh Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) selama setahun. Setelah itu, mereka baru bisa kembali mengabdi. Formasi pendaftaran dapat disediakan pemerintah daerah setempat maupun melalui skema penerimaan CPNS.

Dalam kesempatan yang sama, Prof Sukestiyarno bersama Prof Totok Sumaryanto juga mengenalkan mobil rancangan dosen Fakultas Teknik Unnes, Widya Aryadi. Mobil itu berhasil dirancang berkat kerja dengan Kementerian Perindustrian RI. Mobil tersebut, menurut Prof Sukestiyarno, cocok untuk kondisi alam Kabupaten Belu. “Mobil ini dibuat dengan biaya kurang dari Rp 100 juta dan dirancang untuk medan yang sulit dilalui,” katanya.

Sambil melihat beberapa foto mobil yang ditunjukkan Prof Sukestiyarno, Patrisius dan Ulu menyatakan kekagumannya terhadap mobil yang menggunakan mesin PT Viar itu. Menurut mereka, jika dibandingkan dengan mobil jelajah medan ekstrem seperti Toyota Hilux—dengan harga barunya mencapai Rp 400 juta, harga mobil rancangan dosen Unnes tersebut jauh lebih murah.

Sebelumnya, mobil pick up dengan kapasitas mesin 1.000 cc itu telah diuji coba dengan menempuh perjalanan 100.000 kilometer, termasuk melewati medan berat. Pemprov Jawa Barat membuka kemungkinan untuk menjadi pembeli pertama jika kelak mobil tersebut diproduksi secara masal. (Dhoni Zustiyantoro, dari Kabupaten Belu, Nusa Tenggara Timur)
