Dalam mewujudkan visi UNNES yaitu menjadi kampus berwawasan konservasi dan bereputasi internasional, Jurusan Bimbingan dan Konseling Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Negeri Semarang tanggal 18-19 Oktober 2016 menyelenggarakan Seminar Internasional di Patra Jasa Convention Hotel “1St Semarang State University International Conference on Conseling and Educational Psychology (SICCEP) 2016” dengan tema ”Developing and innovation on helping profession for better life” yang menghadirkan 5 invited speaker yaitu Dr Diana Lea Baranovich (Malaysia), Dr Hjh Salwa Dato Seri Setia Mahalle (Brunei Darussalam), Tan Soo Yin PhD (Singapura), Prof JT Lobby Loekmono PhD (Indonesia), dan Dr Anwar Sutoyo MPd (Indonesia).

Kegiatan dibuka oleh Rektor Universitas Negeri Semarang Prof Dr Fathur Rohman MHum, Selasa 18 Oktober 2016.
Prof Fathur menjelaskan bahwa UNNES sebagai rumah ilmu dan kampus yang berwawasan konservasi sangat mengapresiasi Jurusan Bimbingan dan Konseling Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Negeri Semarang menyelenggarakan konferensi internasional dengan menggandeng beberapa institusi pendidikan dalam dan luar negeri.

Sebagai Keynote Speaker oleh Prof Dr Mungin Eddy Wibowo MPd Kons (Ketua Asosiasi Bimbingan dan Konseling Indonesia).

Hari pertama Selasa 18 Oktober 2016 menampilkan pembicara Dr Anwar Sutoyo MPd menekank an bahwa hasil pengembangan manusia tidak hanya dilihat dari segi fisik, sosial, dan psikologi akan tetapi melihat dari segi manusia itu berasal dengan menggunakan pendekatan dalam perspektif Alqur’an.

Pembicara Tan Soo Yin PhD dari Singapore Nanyang Technological University menyoroti tentang supervisi bimbingan dan konseling yang selama ini masih belum maksimal. Dipaparkan jenis supervisi, fungsi supervisi, dan karakter yang harus dimiliki oleh pengawas dalam menyelenggarakan program layanan Bimbingan dan Konseling.

Pembicara Prof JT Lobby Loekmono PhD Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) Salatiga Indonesia membahas Strategi mindfullness yang dikembangkan dari teori Cognitive Behavior Therapy untuk mengatur kehidupan sehari-hari dan diaplikasikan di sekolah dan industri.

Selain pembicara, hari pertama dipaparkan makalah yang berjumlah 60 judul artikel dalam bidang bimibngan dan konseling diantaranya asesmen, strategi layanan, teknik konseling, konseling dalam berbagai setting, pemanfaatan IT dalam pelayanan BK.

Hari kedua Rabu, 19 Oktober 2016 menampilkan pembicara Dr Hjh Salwa Dato Seri Setia Mahalle dari Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education University Brunei Darussalam, Brunei memaparkan pentingnya Konseling Rakan Sebaya. Supaya dapat terlaksana dengan baik perlu kerja sama dengan guru, sekolah dan orang tua.

Pembicara Dr Diana Lea Baranovich University of Malaysia memaparkan Fillial Therapy dapat merekatkan hubungan antara anak dan orang tua. Dengan cara orang tua masuk dalam dunia permainan anak.

Hari kedua menampilkan makalah yang berjumlah 40 judul artikel berasal dari Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, dan Timor Leste.

Ketua Panitia, Mulawarman MPd PhD mengemukakan seminar diikuti 300 peserta berasala dari seluruh Indonesia, Slovakia, Jerman, Vietnam, dan Timor Leste. Pelaksanaan berjalan dengan baik dan sesuai tujuan seminar yaitu untuk mengembangkan wawasan dan meningkatkan kompetensi konselor, guru, dan tenaga pendidik dalam bidang keahlian terkait bimbingan konseling dan psikologi pendidikan dalam skala internasional dan untuk mengembangkan inovasi mutakhir bidang bimbingan dan konseling.
