Prof Dr Supriadi Rustad menilai integrasi pelajaran IPA-IPS pada jenjang sekolah dasar justru meringankan beban siswa.

“Saya melihat tidak ada masalah dengan rencana pengintegrasian IPA-IPS di SD. Apalagi, integrasi IPA-IPS dengan pelajaran lain konsepnya masih ‘nyambung’,” katanya, Sabtu (15/12), sebagaimana dikutip antarajateng.com.

Hal tersebut diungkapkannya di sela-sela seminar bertema “Peran MIPA Dalam Peningkatan Kualitas Hidup dan Pengembangan Pendidikan Karakter” yang digelar Fakultas MIPA Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes).

Supriadi yang juga Direktur Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi itu mengakui siswa SD selama ini menanggung beban pelajaran yang banyak sehingga membuat anak-anak cenderung stres.

“Coba saja lihat anak-anak SD sekarang. Pelajarannya banyak, mereka harus membawa buku-buku pelajaran yang banyak saat ke sekolah,” kata profesor Fakultas MIPA Unnes tersebut.

Ia mengibaratkan pengintegrasian pelajaran IPA-IPS dengan pelajaran lain yang berkaitan pada jenjang pendidikan dasar itu dengan beraneka jus buah segar yang dicampur dan diblender menjadi satu.

“Ibaratnya seperti ini, jus nanas, apel, dan jeruk dicampur jadi satu, kemudian diblender. Jadi jus buah ‘mix’ yang rasanya lebih enak. Demikian halnya dengan pengintegrasian IPA-IPS,” katanya.

Jadi, kata dia, tidak benar jika kemudian ada yang mengkhawatirkan pelajaran IPA-IPS akan ditinggalkan, melainkan diintegrasikan menjadi satu dengan pelajaran lain yang masih berkaitan.

    Perlu diapresiasi niat baik pemerintah untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan melalui perubahan kurikulum tematik integratif, sederhananya pembelajaran yang berlangsung berbasis tema, memberikan kebebasan kepada siswa. siswa ingin belajar apa dan bagaimana metode pembelajarannya.
    Namun, yang perlu dicermati bersama adalah (1) bagaimana sistem evaluasinya, kalau tetap menggunakan sistem UN, maka sia-sialah perubahan kurikulum tersebut. (2) bagaimana Sumber daya guru-guru kita apakah sudah siap dalam pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran menggunakan kurikulum tematik?

    Siswa: matahari. matahari terbit di timur dan terbenam di barat. matahari bergerak terus menerus menerangi bumi. itulah matahari ciptaan tuhan.
    Guru: ada pertanyaan?
    Siswa: kenapa matahari bisa bergerak bu?
    Guru: tentu karena digerakkan tuhan
    Siswa: kalau pagi dan sore sinarnya tdk panas kalau siang kok panas bu?
    Guru: tentu matahari ada krannya, kl siang kran terbuka penuh jd panas sekali, kl pagi dan sore kran terbuka sedikit
    Siswa: kalau malam matahari kemana bu?
    Guru: sama seperti kita, matahari jg butuh istirahat
