Guru besar bidang evaluasi dan penelitian pendidikan Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) Prof Dr Maman Racman MSc mengatakan, guru di sekolah merupakan ujung tombak pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang memegang peranan penting guna mendukung terciptanya sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas.

Pada kenyataannya di lapangan, siswa belum terbiasa diajak mengeksplorasi dan mengelaborasi sumber-sumber pengetahuan di sekitar. ”Peserta didik hanya diminta menjadi pendengar yang baik, mereka tidak didorong mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir dan hanya diarahkan untuk menghafal informasi, menimbun berbagai informasi tanpa menghubungkan dengan kehidupan,” katanya, di SMA 7 Semarang, Sabtu (23/11).

Program “Professors Go to School” yang digagas Unnes, menurutnya, merupakan bagian dari upaya nyata peningkatan kualitas pendidikan. “Karena di era ini sangat dituntut adanya SDM yang sangat memiliki keunggulan kompetitif dan komparatif sesuai standar mutu pendidikan nasional dan internasional,” katanya.

Tantangan lain yang dihadapi guru adalah format laporan akademik siswa. Pada Kurikulum 2013, rapor harus memuat deskripsi kompetensi siswa. Deskripsi diharapkan jadi masukan bagi siswa dan orang tua agar proses belajar terus ditingkatkan.

Ihwal perubahan kurikulum, menurut Prof Maman hal itu perkara yang wajar dan jamak ditemui di setiap negara, karena sebagai pedoman penyelenggara pendidikan dalam lingkup nasional, kurikulum harus senantiasa disesuaikan dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan tututan masyarakat.

“Kita tentu harus mendukung niat positif pemerintah sebagai usaha untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan,” ujarnya. Pria kelahiran 9 Juni 1948 ini mengatakan, orientasi pendidikan bukan hanya pada pengembangan SDM tetapi juga pada pengembangan kapabilitas manusia.

Di samping itu, Prof mengatakan, guru masa kini harus “SEHAT”, yakni supel, empati, hangat, akrab, dan tersenyum. “Itu untuk mengalahkan penyakit “AIDS”, yaitu angkuh, irit ngomong, dingin, sombong,” kelakarnya. Prof Maman, berbincang dengan kepala sekolah, guru, dan siswa. Ia mengamati sekaligus memberikan penguatan supaya Kurikulum 2013 di sekolah itu berjalan lebih baik.

Kepala SMA 7 Semarang S Panca Mulyadi MPd mengungkapkan, implementasi Kurikulum 2013 telah menumbuhkan perilaku positif di sekolah itu. “Siswa menikmati suasana kreatif dan merasa mendapat dorongan untuk berpikir. Siswa juga merasa mendapat ruang yang cukup untuk menyatakan pendapat,” tuturnya.
