Sebanyak 410 mahasiswa peserta Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Tahap I Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) Kabupaten Demak menanam 20.000 pohon mangrove  di Desa Morodemak Kecamatan Bonang Kabupaten Demak, Kamis (9/10).

Acara yangdiselenggarakan  bekerja sama dengan TNI, dinas kelautan dan perikanan, dan masyarakat ini dibagi menjadi 2 kegiatan yaitu 390 mahasiswa menanam mangrove dan 120 mahasiswa melakukan bersih pantai.

Ketua Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LP2M) Prof Dr Totok Sumaryanto Florentinus MPd mengatakan “Kegiatan ini sesuai dengan visinya universitas negeri semarang, karena unnes memiliki visi menjadi universitas konservasi. Maka dari itu progam KKn harus ada kegiatan menanam pohon.”

Selain itu, Dosen Pendamping Lapangan (DPL) juga turut serta dalam acara ini dan dihadiri oleh Bapeda Kabupaten Demak, Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan, Dinas Lingkungan Hidup, Camat Bonang, Komandan Koramil, Kapol Airut, dan Kepala Pelabuhan Perikanan Pantai (P3).

“Ini adalah pengalaman belajar dan bekerja terjun di masyarakat supaya ilmu yang dipelajari di jurusannya masing-masing dapat diterapkan dan dapat membantu masalah-masalah yang dihadapi di masyarakat. Saya berharap kegiatan ini dapat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat dikemudian hari,” tambah Prof Totok.
