Untuk mempercepat program penanggulangan kemiskinan, sejak 2011 Pemerintah Kota Semarang mencanangkan Program “Gerdu Kempling”. Program ini merupakan gerakan terpadu di bidang kesehatan, ekonomi, pendidikan, infrastruktur, dan lingkungan.

Plt Wali Kota Semarang Hendrar Prihadi SE MM saat penyerahan dana Corporate Social Responsbility (CSR) Bank BNI untuk program “Gerdu Kempling” Kota Semarang mengemukakan, program ini merupakan upaya untuk menurunkan angka kemiskinan.

“Kota Semarang mampu menurunkan angka kemiskinan sebesar 2 persen, dan target tahun 2013, angka kemiskinan masyarakat Kota Semarang tinggal 16 persen,” ungkap Hendar Kamis (17/10) di Rektorat Kampus Sekaran Gunungpati Semarang.

Acara yang merupakan kerja sama Unnes-BNI dan Pemkot Kota Semarang ini, dihadiri Pimpinan Unnes, BNI CEO Cabang Semarang, Bappeda dan Pemkot Kota Semarang serta kelurahan mitra di Kecamatan Gunungpati Kota Semarang.

Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) bermitra dengan CSR Bank BNI, akan menangani empat kelurahan, Kelurahan Patemon, Sukorejo, Kalisegoro dan Cepoko Kecamatan Gunungpati Kota Semarang.

Bantuan Bank BNI sebesar Rp 110 juta, menurut Iwan Ardi CEO Bank BNI Cabang Semarang, sebagai wujud komitmen mitra Unnes dan Pemkot Kota Semarang. “Bantuan tersebut dapat bermanfaat untuk pengembangan kota Semarang khususnya program penanggulangan kemiskinan,” ujar Iwan Ardi.

Pada kesempatan yang sama, Rektor Unnes Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum menyampaikan, Unnes merupakan bagian dari Pemkot Kota Semarang. “Tentu sudah semestinya ikut andil dalam pengembangan Kota Semarang khususnya program penanggulangan kemiskinan di sekitar kampus,” ungkapnya.

“Kerja sama semacam ini terus berlanjut,” tegasnya, seraya berharap Bank BNI, Pemkot Kota Semarang terus bekerja sama Unnes dalam mengembangkan Kota Semarang.
