Fakultas Hukum Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) adakan Konferensi Internasional bertajuk Clinical on Legal Education: Theory and Practice in the Law School. Acara ini diadakan pada Rabu dan Kamis (12-13/4) di Hotel Patra Jasa, Semarang. Program yang dibuka oleh Wakil Rektor I UNNES, Prof Dr Rustono MHum melibatkan lima keynote speaker, yakni Bruce A. Lasky, selaku direktur dari BABSEA CLE Asia; Dr. Dina Imam Supaat, dari Faculty of Sharia and Law, Universiti of Science Islam, Malaysia; Christoper Cason, dari Legal Clinic-Seattle Pacific University, Law School, Amerika Serikat; Prof H Abdul Mohaimin bin Noordin Ayu, dari Multimedia University, UNISSA, Brunei Darussalam; dan Dr Rodiyah SPd MH MSi, selaku Dekan Fakultas Hukum UNNES.

Dalam penjelasan materi seminar, Bruce A Lasky memaparkan mengenai penggambaran dan aplikasi dari CLE (Clinical Legal Education) atau pendidikan hukum klinis. Berdasarkan sistem tersebut, terdapat tiga poin yang dapat diimplementasikan bagi pengembangan ilmu hukum berbasis CLE di UNNES, yakni adanya pendidikan berbasis hukum; peningkatan skill pemberian layanan hukum yang seimbang, baik bagi kalangan elit atau masyarakat umum; dan penyesuaian materi dengan branding UNNES sebagai universitas konservasi.

Kemudian, pembicara berikutnya, Dr. Dina Imam Supaat, menyampaikan mengenai penerapan CLE dalam kurikulum pendidikan hukum yang berbasis pada problem-based learning. Hasil dari penerapan pendidikan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa CLE yang digabungkan dengan problem based learning memang meningkatkan motivasi mahasiswa untuk memiliki kompetensi yang lebih baik dan menyelesaikan permasalahan hukum yang ada sesuai dengan realita yang ada di masyarakat.

Christopher Cason memaparkan mengenai pendidikan hukum sebaiknya menyiapkan mahasiswa untuk menjadi penegak hukum yang tidak hanya berpihak pada masyarakat kelas ekonomi atas, tetapi juga harus bisa dijangkau oleh masyarakat kelas bawah.

Kemudian, Prof. H. Abdul Mohaimin bin Noordin Ayus menjelaskan mengenai survey pendidikan hukum yang ada di Malaysia dan Brunei Darussalam berdasar observasi yang ia lakukan pada beberapa universitas. Dari penelitian tersebut, ia berfokus pada kesulitan pengajar dalam memberikan materi bahan ajar yang sekiranya dapat membantu perkembangan mahasiswa dari segi praktek untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan hukum di masyarakat.

Sementara itu, Dr Rodiyah SPd MH MSi menjelaskan bahwa pendidikan hukum di Indonesia diharapkan tidak terbatas pada observasi kasus yang terjadi di lapangan melalui PKL dan KKL, tetapi juga mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat dengan porsi praktek yang ditambah pada perkuliahan di kelas melalui CLE.
