Sebanyak 48 mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) bergabung dalam tim atlet kontingen Jawa Tengah pada Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XVIII di Pekanbaru.

Pelepasan dilakukan oleh Pembantu Rektor Bidang Kemahasiswaan (PR III) Prof Masrukhi didampingi Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Keolahragaan Hari Pramono MSi, Pembantu Dekan Bidang Akademik (PD I) Tri Rustiadi MKes yang juga Sekretaris I KONI Jateng, dan Pembantu Dekan Bidang Kemahasiswaan Nasuka MKes, Kamis (30/8) di rektorat kampus Sekaran.

“ Ke-48 atlet Unnes ini akan mengikuti 18 cabang olahraga, yakni sepak takraw, gulat, senam aerobik, anggar, karate, sepak bola, bola voli pantai, atletik, senam artistik, angkat besi, taekwondo, wushu, senam ritmik, squas, panahan, dan futsal,” kata Prof Masrukhi.

PR III juga mengemukakan, 48 mahasiswa Unnes ini merupakan 10% total atlet kontingen Jawa Tengah yang jumlahnya 483 orang.

“Target Jawa Tengah dalam PON XVIII ini masuk 4 besar. Pada PON sebelumnya Jateng di urutan ke-5. Sesuai dengan arahan Gubernur Jateng, jagalah kondisi kalian sebaik mungkin. Jangan tidur sampai larut malam karena bisa menurunkan stamina,” pesan Prof Masrukhi kepada para atlet.

PR III menyatakan mahasiswa atlet lulus pada semester IX atau XI merupakan hal yang wajar karena sibuk dengan berbagai event. “Jadi kamu tidak usah merasa telat, tapi syukur-syukur bisa lulus tepat 8 semester.”

Menurutnya, ada dua pilihan, yakni lulus dengan cepat dan bagus tanpa prestasi di hal-hal lain ataukah lulus telat sedikit tapi prestasi sebagai atlet menonjol. “Ini yang akan memberikan warna tersendiri,” katanya.
